Default Get More Referrals by Asking
http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/r-art...ls_by_asking-i

I just came across this great article about getting more referrals. Personally, I know I would rather work with someone I know did a good job for a friend or family member.

Don't just rely on clients to give you referrals either (although they are a good source of referrals). As I mentioned in another post, I picked up a new client last week who was referred to me by someone I had an initial meeting with, but who hasn't signed on as a client yet. Needless to say I was surprised but very grateful! Every single person you meet and interact with during the day has the potential to refer people to you, so don't be afraid to talk to people and tell them who your ideal client is.

this is true, the networking meeting I just had, that I had initial hesitations about, turned out to be beneficial, because he called me today because his church needs a bookkeeper.....

That is fantastic, Sarah! You must have impressed him in the short time you were together if he is giving you referrals already. Way to go!
