Hi Alba,

It takes time to build and keep this business growing and going. One thing to be careful of is your grammar, spelling and punctuation. The better your RFP replies are, the better response you will get.

You would be surprised that one misspelled word or one bad grammar sentence, could cost you the RFP.

Take your time and try to stay positive. Being down and discouraged will show in your replies to RFP's.

This is the slow down period for most companies as they are focusing on family time, holidays etc.

This is a great time to update your website, do mail outs to potential clients. Say thank you to family and friends with a gift that has your business information on it.

Sincerely,
Andrea~

Hi Alba,
Andrea gave you some good advice, what I would add to that is to take this valuable time (you won't always have it) after clients find out what a great VA you are!. Put it to good use. I always have an online course going on, or two, or three, plus self-studying.

I am a constant buyer at Amazon. Is there anything that you need to do for clients in the way of contracts, welcome kits, or marketing materials. This is the time while you have yet to be found. Don't forget to leave time for valuable networking (this is how most clients are found), both online and in person. HTH

Alba, what are you doing to market your business? If you are using online marketing, you need to have a presence. Sign up on forums or groups that are in your niche and post comments. Attend local networking groups, your local Chamber of Commerce, etc.

Hang in there, it takes time to build a business. Best of luck to you.

Don't give up! Keep applying for RFPs. Offer your services to a non-profit, if you can. Then ask for referrals. Add those testimonials to your website. Write a few blog entries about what you know best. Spend time updating your site, as was mentioned. Think about people you know and spread the word. Post to other people's blogs and include a link back to your website. Update your LinkedIn account and post discussions there. Check your website stats and see where people are clicking from and then do more posting on those places. Add your blog to directories. Write an article and post to a free ezine site. Consider writing a press release and post to some of the free sites.

You'll see...your next post here will be that you have your first client and we'll be clapping our hands!
