Default Approaching a potential client..
Hello everyone!
I was browsing through the classifieds section on Kijiji yesterday and noticed two ads that could be potential clients for a VA. If you were interested in pursuing this lead, how would you go about responding?
Would you just reply introducing your company and what you do? Would you even bother responding to an ad on Kijiji?
If anyone has responded to ads on Kijiji or Craigslist, what has been your outcome?

I am just starting up on a part time basis so I'm trying to get my foot in the door. Any feedback would be helpful with how to approach a potential lead.

Thank you!

Hi Malaika, I found my first client (she's still with us!) on Craigslist years ago, so it can be a source of potential clients to be sure. There's also a lot of spam, junk and people looking for the lowest possible rate so while it won't cost you anything to take the time to respond, and you should if you're interested in the client, just do so knowing that it may not pan out.

There are quite a few conversations regarding responding to classifieds on Craigslist, etc. in the Marketing section that you might find interesting.

If you are going to reply, I would just treat it like any other RFP - respond as thoroughly and professionally as possible. Let them know you have the solution to their problems, etc.

Good luck!

Yes it will do no harm to reply, just be professional and relate how your services can help them !

Thanks for the information, Tess. I hadn't thought of looking on Craig's list.

Thanks for all the great advice in here, I think I am going to devote a little time each week to online marketing. I was doing everything in person and that can be a little daunting. Great advice!!

I try to check in on Craigslist every now and again. I have yet to gain a client from it, but in reality it just costs a small amount of time and has great potential.
