Default Answering Clients Incoming Phone Calls
A question I've been asked, If you answer your clients incoming calls how do you know which clients call you are answering. How do you answer your phone in such cases?

TIA

I have multiple lines in my office Tia. One for each client whose phones I'm answering. That way I know which one I'm responding for. You need some kind of system set up so you can identify which phone number is being called and for whom.

All of my clients are set up through a service such as Freedom Voice or OneBox, and it is the client's number that shows up on my Caller ID. I can tell by the number calling in how to answer the phone.

Some clients have their own number set up which forward to me, in which case I can tell which client the call is for. Other clients just have people call me on my own number. In either case, I simply answer "This is Lorri, how may I help you?"

You might want to look into 'distinctive ring' service, too. It helps as the clients calls will have a unique ring as calls come in.

Oh I wonder if that is available in the UK, you mean like a different ring tone per client ... more research then!

Kathy, thanks for the idea of getting a phone. I know people want this service but then I would feel I was chained to my desk and that is something that I don't want AT ALL. So I've compromised and have agreed to check their messages for them every 2 hours. Most are okay with that.

I just started this service for one client. It's a temporary thing and I don't want to offer it as a regular service. It's a favour for my very first client. Anyway, I digress. My point is, I have a separate ring tone for his phone to differentiate it from my phone. It works like a charm!

How do you handle it if you can't get the call and it goes to voice mail?
