Default Anyone know of Virtual Assistants.com?

I found them near the top of a google search, and based on the BBB logo/link and review, they appear legit, but....

has anyone joined or know anything about them? Any info would be most appreciated - I'm on a very tight budget and can't afford to waste money on a completely unknown organization that isn't going to benefit my company.

Thanks all!

Sam

Hi Sam,

I am firm believer that you should NOT have to pay for a job/work.

I have come across the virtualassistants.com site before, but noticed you had to pay something and clicked off.

I would do some more Internet searching

You're right, Keena. I forgot that most important of rules - never pay for work. I was just too eager to get my name out there and find my ideal clients.

Thank you for your valuable input!

Sam

Are you paying for work or for membership? There is a difference. So you need to look at it much deeper than 'not paying for work'. If there are true membership benefits and gaining client contact and work through that membership is just one of the benefits then it may well be worth joining. However, if that's all that's being offered, i.e. pay for a job, then it would be worth moving on. There are several virtual assistant networks out there that charge membership fees that are well worth the fee and much more - and you can gain clients through them as well.

I had a membership to virtualassistants.com last year. They do provide a job board, forum, a profile on their site plus many other features. The only list high-quality jobs, a lot of them are telecommuting and not strictly virtual jobs, but they are legit. I very rarely, if ever, saw any of those low paying $4-5/hour va jobs.

I got one of my best clients from the site. He found my profile and contacted me. I did not renew my membership this year, but it wasn't because of the quality of the site.

I agree with Kathie, paying for a membership and paying for work are 2 different things.

*BTW, It's good to have you back Kathie!

Kathie -

I had looked at it much deeper.. I paid the membership fee and nothing ever came of it. When you "pay" to be a member at virtualassistants.com you are registering for a VA job. And at that point of payment you may then access the forum and other areas of the site.

I soon realized, I was paying a montly membership fee for something that other VA Forums offered for free.

I didnt mean to offend anyone, my reply was with intent to inform without directly bashing the company.

I don't think it was a case of offending anyone - just wanted to make sure that it was clear what you were asking, for the sake of others reading the thread. Not everyone will realise the difference.

I've received some offers for work at home jobs, and they request upfront payments. I think that's a red flag that it's a scheme!

Hi there,

I also had joined temporarily and did not find the memebership worth it. It was legit but not worth the money. There weren't very many jobs that were good for VA's.
