Default Word Press and the calculator
I posted this on another thread that was already started, but thought I'd post a new one too......I can't seem to get the code for the calculator to work on my word press blog. Hamid I was hoping you could take a look at code accepted by wordpress and let me know if its something i'm doing or just not compatiable.......in other words HELP!!!

I've looked at the calculator on other sites that have it up and running and its awesome!!!! You and Tess are wonderful!!

Thanks

Hi Deb, there shouldn't be any compatability issue with wordpress at all. Are you trying to install it in a blog post or in the sidebar?

It won't install in a post, generally, unless you're able to code around it to force display - blog text editors don't understand code (they're just designed to display text, links, and images, so an application wouldn't translate well in your text editor - I'd suggest installing the calculator in the sidebar of your blog instead (the mini should fit perfectly.) If you're already trying to install in the sidebar and that's where you're having troubles let me know and we'll help you figure it out

I've tried installing in both.....I will try again in the sidebar..maybe its something i'm doing. I don't use posts at all, I use pages, and at one time I did have code entered into the pages thats why I was surprised when this didnt work. Wordpress does give the option of entering text or code in pages.

Ah, good to know...I'm not that familiar with wordpress (since Hamid built me my own blogging program I've been spoiled )

Give it another shot and let us know what kind of error you're getting or what happens when you try to install the code - not to worry, we'll get it figured out!

Hi Tess,

Hope all is going well for you with the big move to the states

I tried the calculator again, and still can't get it to work for me. It isn't coming up with any kind of error message at all! I copy and paste the code and then save the page and the code I've pasted just disappears like I never pasted it at all......very strange......

So.......when your not to busy if you could work with me on that it would be great. As I said before..no hurry I know you've got your hands full right now so I can wait.....you take care of yourselves first!

Thanks...talk with you soon

OK here's the latest. Since wordpress seemed to be giving me some troubles(and not just with the calculator) I decided to switch and start using Microsoft Office Live(the free version). As of today the site is up and running you can view it here So far I'm very happy with it(not complete but getting there). It seems easy to use and I like the more professional look of the site......and YES the calculator is up and running!!! I seem to be able to do more with MOL then with wordpress...I'm still going to keep the wordpress account(cause its free of course) and actually attempt blogging...I have no idea what to say yet but I'm sure I'll come up with something since I love to talk so much Thanks Tess for your patience with me in regards to the calculator....you truely are an amazing person

Woohoo!! Good move
Though I'm still curious about the Wordpress issue - we're talking about making a widget for easy wordpress installation...but for now, on to bigger and better things!

Congrats on the new site, you must be so excited!!

My pleasure, as always - I think everyone here is amazing and am feeling so lucky to be surrounded by such a great group of VAs
XO
