Thank you so much for this valuable information. I do have a question regarding this paragraph:

Like everything at VAF, member profiles are optimized for the search engines - using your VA company name as your username will help with visibility online. If you prefer that your company name not turn up in search results via VAF, choose a more anonymous username. Because username changes and multiple accounts are not allowed, username selection is an important decision.

My user name is Virtual Assistant but my company name is My Virtual Assistant Service. Will I still be visible and searchable online when associated with this site? Unfortunately, I picked my user name before I had chosen my company name.

Jody, if you fill in your profile and utilize your signature correctly you will still find your information retrieved by Google via VAF for relative searches, although admittedly not as much as if you had selected your exact company name for your username.

That's why we include that same paragraph in the page that prompts you to select a username. We do understand not all members are going to have a business name when they register, but the advice is aimed at those who do.

Make good use of your profile and link to your business site in your signature, with your company name included, and it will certainly help in the effort to get your business name out there.
