Default Need Help Getting Started
I was looking for work typing term papers for college students and came upon this forum.

I had no idea this type of work was out there and I have absolutely no idea how to get started other than getting in enough posts so I have more access to the board to learn the ropes.

Can anyone help me please. Point me to which boards I should look at to learn how this all works.

I'm not sure I need a website as a VA either. I already have 2 web sites now which I pay for and I have been out of work for a long time.

Is a website necessary to succeed in this business?

What about a blog? I have a blog as a dog breeder but it is on someone elses site so I have no idea how to go about starting my own.

I am a great typist at about 100 wpm and thinking I should be able to earn a living with this. I am thinking of doing transcriptions. I have experience (many years ago) with dictaphones as a legal secretary.

I have no idea what programs I need in my computer to transcribe.

Sorry for all the questions but any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, not sure if my Avatar is allowed. I don't have a pic of just myself. Its either me on a horse or me with my dogs.........

Welcome Patty, please read the welcome private message that was sent to you after you signed up and first logged in. By following and reading each of the links mentioned there you'll learn a lot about how to post to the boards, how to find information on the site, etiquette for the community [like posting one question at a time in the appropriate area of the site], and where you can get your free 'getting started as a VA' download.

Also be sure to take the time to familiarize yourself with the various topic sections on the boards by scanning the home page and reading the description for each topic section.

Your avatar is just fine.

Also be sure to read and sign off on the community terms of service.

Hi Patty! Like the admin said, read all the getting started information and post your questions as you go along. There are a lot of people here who will help you by answering your questions. Check out the Virtual Transcription section as there is a lot of information there about software and equipment. And keep us posted on your progress. Good luck to you.
