Hi Jane, great question! (Every question is worth asking and is never stupid

)
The Networking feature at VAF is a great way to build relationships with your fellow VAs and can make it easier for you to communicate with them directly here on VAF. You can build your network by sending networking requests to other members you share common interests with, who are members of the same
group, or who are particularly helpful in a thread you've started.
To add someone to your networking list, visit their VAF profile and click the 'Add to your network' link in the Network box (second box in the right-hand column in profiles).
The member will receive notice that you have requested a connection with them and much like any other social networking site, will have the option to accept or decline your request. If they decline, no notice will be sent - the connection simply won't be made. If they accept, you will then be listed in eachother's networks.
Members can edit their network at any time to break a connection with another member - no notice goes out if you remove someone from your list, the connection will simply no longer exist. If you accidentally remove someone, it's just as easy to add them back again, anytime.
You can use the Instant Messenger feature (the 'Who's Online') toolbar at the bottom right of the screen) to IM with members in your network when they are on the site at the same time. You can also quickly and easily send Private Messages to people in your network (even if they are not on the site at the time) by clicking QUICK LINKS in the main menu and selecting 'Open Contacts Popup'.
Feel free to post back with any additional questions you might have about building your network or how the feature works.
