Default About the VAF Customizable Calculator - check here for answers to issues, etc.
Hi everyone

Here are a few notes you might want to know about the new Virtual Assistant Calculator feature:

1. It will work just fine for users with their JavaScript off, they won't see the fancy effects but they can still use it. So it's cross-browser.

2. The code you have to paste in your website (or template or whatever) is encoded so nobody can steal your email address (or any other information), and it won't be visible to email harvester bots

3. If you want to choose a color you don't need to enter the ampersign (#) just the hex code without ampersign like FFEFEF but not #FFEFEF

4. Software is open to bugs, even Microsoft releases a version of Windows and then releases 20 patches to fix it 2 months after the product release, so if you see any problems, please reply to this thread to let us know.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy it!

[Update]
Problems with Safari are fixed
Live version example now available at: http://remoteadminservices.com/benefits.aspx

and example of mini version is up here: http://www.virtualgirlfriday.blogspot.com/

[Update]
Issues with the 'no direct access' error message appearing for some DIY website programs has been fixed. The application now allows direct access.

Thanks!

Fantastic calculator! You just made my weekend! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!

It works fine in IE, but not on Safari. I have not tried Firefox yet, but will try to take a peek in the next day or so. I might add that I use the Office Live Basic web templates, so that might be an issue.

I have the same problem. Is there ANOTHER web site you can send us that uses the calculator so I can look at how it's displayed and so I can see the source code?

Can the calculator appear in a seperate frame (or new window)? The reason is because my web site area which I want to put the calculator might be too NARROW to physically fit in the body area. Therefore, I need to put it in a new pop up window.

Help!

That may be my problem as well.. To be honest, I don't have a clue when it comes to this..I've tried every browser.. But I know as soon as Hamid can take a look, he will be able to figure out what we need to do!!! Aren't they amazing to come up with this for us!! Another reason why this is the best forum on the internet!!

Cheers!!

I agree! This forum is more personal and interactive than most! And on top of that - the people, Tess & Hamid, has heart behind this forum. They care and provide their valuable time. Busy people and yet they make time.

Too often people are too "busy" for anyone nowadays.

The good old days where people and relationships matter is indeed rare.

I think there might be another kink. If someone who has a working calculator can you try this out...

Type 40 hours under the VA block then calculate. It always comes back to 30hours. I know that we technically do not work 40 hours as we charge for hours actually worked (unless you are a super workaholic), but I was curious if the 30 hours is a set parameter.

My site is still under extensive construction and not formally launched, but you can look at it.

http://www.remoteadminservices.com

Click "About RAS", then click the sub-menu button "Benefits of Using A VA". You should see the calculator there.

Let me know if it works!
