Talking your niche's net home
For those of you who have very specific niches have you found their home on the net? If not, but you could find a place where they visited for advice and venting, would you go there to help identify their aches and pains? How would you go about finding their net home?

I've been looking for my niche's net home and have only found one...not a very popular one, it would seem, as the traffic is low and dated.

I was just wondering if anyone else had been successful at this!

Make it a great day!

I use free industry-related e-newsletters and online pubs often to get a tap on a specific niche market's pulse. I keep tabs on numerous industries anyhow, just to stay aware of what my existing clients are dealing with...

Also, checking for blogs in a specific industry can be useful as well.

Without knowing who your target market is it's hard to suggest where to find them. But, professional associations, forums, blogs dedicated to them are good places to begin. Also, try writing blog posts and articles about how you can help your market. By doing that you will lead a trail for them to follow. Also, subscribe to their newsletters. Read their blogs and when appropriate make a *meaningful* post with a link to your site. Don't plug your services to them. Just post an insightful comment. They will read it and most likely will click on your signature link. That's one way to let them know you're out there.

Great post! I highly recommend finding out where your niche market "hangs out". I refer to their needs as "pain points" and I really try to paint the picture of relief etc!

My problem is the opposite. I am wanting to really focus on real estate and there are literally thousands of real estate blogs, forums and otherwise helpful information sites.

I decided to focus my efforts on those in Arizona because I lived there for 28 years and I know the area despite now living in New Mexico. This narrowed the field a little. I am hoping to "get my name out there" as it were and learn a lot about the industry and how things are shaping up.

My niche is attorneys. I heard they don't have time to read emails or stay online long. So how do I find out where they "hang out?"
