Default Virtual Assistant Niches
Hi friends

I am in midst of gather all possible information about VA and regarding specialised services that VA can give and VAs do give. A doubt which is alive in my mind is, can online tutoring be called as a service of a VA? Can it be niche, specialisation of VA? In my area, I do see lot of scope for the same and I feel I can work on same with more efforts. Of course this is not a finalised decision, but the process of thought is taking me again and again to the same point.
I would be glad if seniors can highlight their opinions about this.
Regards
Vinita

My opinion is that it can definately be a niche. My youngest daughter attended Florida Virtual Academy for Kindergarten last year and I was totally amazed on what we accomplished virtually.

I have even seen some online tutoring ads in the past on some of the popular job boards. You keep going back to it, so I say put your all into researching it and go for it!

If it's something you feel drawn to do so - then go for it! Anything is POSSIBLE in this virtual world nowadays.

What's so nice about being a VA is that you can select what type of work you WANT to offer, and feel comfortable in doing so. You are your own boss so you decide what you want to do. Isn't that so cool?

Whatever direction you chose to go in your VA business - you have our support.

I agree, you're the business owner - if you can conceive of a way to offer a service like this to your clients then it's already a niche
And a unique one at that...nice brainstorm!

Dawn Riley, VBP, Tess, WhiteRose,

Thanks a lot for encouraging.
I also could search many websites for e-tutoring, and more search on same is giving pleasure to pursue the same.

I guess it depends on what you're planning to tutor? VAs by nature are Virtual Assistants, and were original PAs or personal assistants who went virtual. We've expanded and now also do transcriptions, bookkeeping, internet research, website maintenance, so primarily office-based work and admin assistance of some sort - i.e. assisting other business owners to run their businesses.

I really think that tutoring is something else again. Unless it's part of a suite of services you plan to provide that is assisting other business owners?

Hi Kathie

Ah, your comments make me really think a lot. How I love thinking in all directions, keeping all antenas of my brain open (alas! i could drew a pic here of my head with antenas ).
I wish immensely to chat with you further.

Well with this comment, dont you think that both specialisations can go hand in hand such that I am giving office assistance for some freelance hours, and with adjusting my schedules, I am e-tutoring too. However, I have not found a good start for the same niche yet, but evaluating and trying a lot on same. I also found various companies conducting e-tuitions, but none has hired me yet.

( I think by sunsign of Linda Goodman's book, I am Gemini, and so I can work on multiple platforms hehe)

Regards and Love

I was off the air for a few days so I'm sorry for the delay in responding.

Again, I really feel that VAs are admin/office-based support. If you're providing tutoring then that's a different role altogether. However, there is no reason why you can't do VA work when you're not tutoring and that you're actually doing two separate things?

I'm a VA (and provide VA coaching too) but when I'm not doing VA stuff I'm also an author and blogger and have been published too. Writing is my passion and fortunately is a skill that is well-used in being a VA.

Happy to chat any time!
