My niche is television production, and I'm really struggling to market myself within the industry. I have emailed hundreds of TV companies and feel like I've exhausted everyone! (I know that's not the best way to do it, but having worked in the industry I know that emails have the least chance of being chucked in the bin!). I have set up my profile on Linked In, and am gradually learning how to use it. I haven't set up a twitter account for my business yet, but am planning on doing so once I've got my head around it. That is, are you trying to sell your expertise in tv production, or your expertise as an administrator/assistant? There's a major difference. The skills I have are all specific to the TV industry, as I used to work as a production co-ordinator. However I am offering my services as a VA to the production companies, basically taking their paperwork off their hands. I hope that makes sense. I'm not saying that your proposal isn't good enough but sometimes having 1 or 2 people as a critics, have them read your proposal really help. I believe there are people who are expert in writing a proposal making the companies realize the benefits of what you are offering. For instance, try to add a personal touch when sending them emails such as your own video (not too formal) explaining what you can do for them or adding a portfolio to your own website, something like that.
