I remember reading sometime ago about someone who was marketing their services to ADD clients, however I have not been able to find the thread again. I am contemplating this as my niche and would like to get some pointers, if possible.

Wow so excited when I saw this thread posting...

Everyone has such wonderful information and defined "niches" (did I spell that right (lol)

I believe my niche will be to work with Wedding Planners & Childcare Provider businesses and helping with their initial administrative start up plan. I have a passion/love for Wedding planning, I am addicted to every wedding show that comes on television. I also have a friend who just opened her Day Care business and is so overwhelmed with the administrative part of it, she is soliciting my help with her business (which will hopefully lead to more referrals from other childcare providers in her network circle).
(May need to however outsource the higher levels of bookkeeping to some of my wonderful VA's here on the forum, because that is not my niche)

I would like to take the stresses away from new business owners by helping them overcome the obstacles I encourntered when starting my businesss and make the process flow a little easier for them by providing the desktop mgmt, calendar, voicemail and email mgmt, creating professinal documents, registrations and tax info, etc, etc... yea..all the perils I faced when starting up.

I initially thought my niche would be different but I have found that I am great working with Artists and Decorative painters, being one, I understand what they need and what type of work they do so I can relate to them and help them advance their goals.

Technically, my niche is virtual bookkeeping & accounting, as well as QuickBooks setup, support & troubleshooting. I'm an Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, so I get a lot of "help, my QuickBooks is broken!" work

But I've been working with a lot of coaches and consultants lately. In most instances, they have a team that works for them: a generalist VA and me. I've found that it works well because I handle everything that has to do with the numbers (invoicing, paying bills, reconciling bank accounts, running reports) and the other VA focuses on all of the appointment setting and general admin stuff. When one of us goes on vacation, we have a general-enough handle on what they do (the most basic of cross-training) to cover for them while they're gone. It works great

Hey Deb, I love that!! That's the formula! So glad to see you agree with me. A biz owner basically needs someone to help with the numbers and someone to help with general stuff. You can divide it further to say, numbers, words, graphics, database, and scheduling. Or whatever works.

Educating the world about VAs means showing business owners how structuring this way can be more efficient, economically, ecologically, etc.

Wow! What an interesting thread. Its really thought provoking to see everything people are doing. There is no task to small. I am just starting out and have written out my strengths and likes, so I am still developing my niche.

Right now I am leaning toward authors. I love to read so I thought that wouldn't be tooo put of reach for me. I have training in project managment and a degree in business so I am still at the drawing board but you guys have really got me to thinking.
