I was told by an associate that it is difficult to gain clients in the healthcare field (doctors office, hospitals etc.) unless you already personally know providers that you can work with. Has anyone else with this niche found it difficult/and how did you handle it?

I am not in the medical field however I would think it would depend on your experience and your contacts. I would suggest if you are in the field then talk to some in the field to see what the demand is and if not why. Then take that information and solve their problems.

Also, I would join a chamber or two in your area and start connecting with those in the field to start to make the connections.

I specialize in the medical/health field. I have not yet any clients in this niche however having worked in the field, I believe there is a need.

I have a gf that does medical billing from home (somewhat diff than VA) and she told me that it was very difficult to find clients here.
She moved from Atlanta, working for her previous employer, but that is her only client and she still travels to Atl periodically to assist in that office.

I know other associates that have started medical billing from home and they too have told me that it is difficult to obtain clients.

I agree with you, there is definitely a need in this area. When I worked for Healthcare providers, there never seemed to be enough hours in the day to get everything done and I know first hand how the little things such as benefits verification etc play a major role in timely collections.

I'm currently working on my marketing campaign and I will include previous employers.

Medical billing is one thing I do not offer as I do not have the experience. My goal is to take a Medical Billing course, down the line, and add it to my services.
