Default Direction for niche market - where am I going?
Hi Everyone,

I'm confused. Is a solo entreprenuer a niche market?

I know that I work best with a single person that needs a variety of support. My background is all over the place and I really don't want to do one thing anymore. 5 years of solid bookkeeping is driving me nuts. I designed my website to offer across the board assistance to alleviate my boredom and to attract clients that need broad assistance. I offer administrative, bookkeeping and web management support and project management for when an expert is needed.

I am researching various industries to find those solo entreprenuers. Any suggestions?

I'm not ready for a full on review of my site. There are things that definitely need to be done. But suggestions and opinions are always welcome.

Thanks!

Jen,

Solo entrepreneur would be your target market. Your niche would be the service area you provide so since you are offering a variety you would not have a specific niche, which is okay. Now if you would find a specific industry, such as artists then that would be your niche.

I checked out your site and it is good. I just glanced but I like what I saw so far. And don't worry about it being done because you will always be tweaking it. Thanks to Tess and her consultation with me I am reworking a lot of my site.

Hi Jen
Since you're feeling like you're ready for a new challenge or direction why not brainstorm an industry or two that sounds really interesting to you, do a little research about what sorts of services would be useful and appealing to those markets and then tailor some of your networking and marketing efforts in those directions.

It can't hurt and will get you going in new directions. General admin is a great foundation and can apply to numerous niches - so choose the ones that are literally going to be FUN for you.

Along with my 'usual' clients, I decided I wanted to work with actors and authors, creatives and media personalities so I went after it and now have a very interesting cache of clients and some equally interesting projects. It's just a matter of fine-tuning your approach and putting in the effort to reach them, resonate with them, and get them equally interested in what YOU do

What industries come to mind for you?

Thanks Tess for your insights. I am considering Jan King's Author Assistant program. There are a lot of networking opportunities in Denver for writers so I think it would be fairly easy to reach them.

There really are a lot of directions on can go!
