I just checked the ReferenceUSA database & entered "churches" & "ministry" & came up with tons of listings, just in my county!

For more info on ReferenceUSA, go to this thread:

Direct Mail thread

Lily & Julie both have good info/directions on this database.

Good luck!

I think you should volunteer under your business name, as that will be getting it out there. And if other churches ask where they got their website from etc, they will same from "Your Business Name".

Most definite. I've volunteered to do a website. We're a small town and I have a feeling others may call for my assistance after it's up and running.

Marketing to churches and ministries is a wonderful idea. That is actually my niche. The thing to remember is that you are in ministry to help ministries. Pray that God will open the door and give you favor with the ministries that need your assistance. Don't look at just churches either... there are a lot of evangelists and parachurch ministries that can utilize your expertise... -Praying that God will bring you into the presence of those that you need to meet!

My only caveat about volunteering with any organization is that often times it's what becomes expected. Be very clear on what you will do as volunteer task, still have a contract signed etc.....

No to be callus (please don't take it that way because it's not meant to be) but churches are businesses too and you deserve not to sell yourself short because you feel you need to volunteer to get yourself in the door. I truly believe that if they believe in your services they'll see the value in it and will pay you for your service.

I must say that I agree with Renee. In order for the church to take your business seriously, you must present it seriously. Don't be too swayed by the church having the need for "volunteers". When a church needs work done, they hire professionals. So I am sure there is money in the budget for your services. Don't sell yourself short and don't feel obligated to provide "free" service.

I agree... Church is BIG business! Churches need your services. You have established yourself as the professional, so make them know your worth and charge them accordingly. God has anointed the works of your hands!

I do the same thing! I had been a church/ministry administrator for so long that after my husband and I stopped Pastoring, I still wanted to do it for other ministries! Since, I have done virtual administration for about 3 churches but they were churches that I already knew and they knew my work! As of now, I am just leading churches to my website so that they can see my work and what I offer! I do check these churches to see if they have a website or if someone is already doing their marketing! Smaller ministries would probably be the best to look into! Hope this helps....Blessings

That's a niche I am working on in my area. I absolutely want to get into that market. I love the idea. What I am doing is going to the phone book and creating my own database.. I simply can't afford to purchase one from a direct marketing and I think send out some flyers or post cards first and them start cold calling on Tuesday since many Pastors don't go to church on Monday... Thats what I am doing. If that helps..
