Who to host with? (affordable)
I just finished purchasing my domain from godaddy....
Can someone recommend an affordable web hosting?
OR what should I look for in finding an affordable web hosting?

Re: Who to host with? (affordable)
Hello Drika,
I'd say it just depends on your budget & how complex your site will be. I use Microsoft Office Live for 2 sites I have. Easy to use & it is free. I have never had any trouble with it an it looks good on most browsers I have searched on. I hope this helps let me know if need any help checking it out.

Re: Who to host with? (affordable)
I really don't have a budget, but I just didn't want to get all expensive because I am just starting out. I would like to see my business grow first. But I guess if I have to spend big money then thats not a problem.

I host through GoDaddy - $5/mth. Tess also offers hosting through this forum - $5/mth.

I host with our own Virtual Assistant Forums. Tess and Hamid are awesome and so is their hosting support plan. I just moved from Netfirms in August and I'm happy I did. I suggest you host here with VAF.

Well godaddy seems the obvious to me if you're already getting your domain with them. And of course it's available here as well. I also have hosting available through my own services.

Thank you all for the advice....I have always been told not to buy a domain and host with the same company. But, I have heard alot about Bluehost and I didn't know that I could get hosting through this forum...I will have to check that out as well....

I guess it depends on who the 'host' is as to whether that's a good idea. With ISPs who host it's best not to get your domain through them but buying through a webhosting/domain registration company is usually fine, as long as you have control in the purchase and set up. In the old days many ISPs or webhosts used to register in their names and not the client's and then there were challenges in shifting the site to another space but these days that shouldn't be a problem. I always make sure my clients are listed as the owner and billing contact - I'm usually listed as the tech and admin contact.

Hi Drika, just a quick correction - We DO offer hosting here But the $5 a month was a special that expired a while ago. You can get more info here.

I am using a templated website through Website Tonight with godaddy.com. I like it, its only $4.95/month without ads, but I want to venture out to make my own eventually.

Re: Who to host with? (affordable)
I get my domains from Godaddy, but for whatever reason, I can't remember, I went with webmasters.com I like them, but getting a live person can sometimes be difficult. Although, I've never HAD to talk with them. That's a good sign. I do like Godaddy's customer service though.
Hope that helps.

Re: Who to host with? (affordable)
There is addaction.net. I used them on my very first website. They usually respond quickly. You can get the first 6 months free. After the first 6 months on you have to pay $6.95 per month. They do have a startup fee of $9.99, which is refundable for the first 30 days.
