Question Web Hosting Help
This is my first post, I am just learning this site...

Anyhow, my question is I created a site on Microsoft Office Live (I loved everything about this site!!!!) and wanted to use my own website name from GoDaddy. Well when I went to go add my domain to Office Live I chose to bring over my Website & Email and then realized later I didnt want both to swap, only my Website.....SO I CANCELLED it. BAD IDEA.....I found out today that after you cancel a domain move you cannot move that domain over again to Office Live for 90 days.....

I currently have my site on a free host www.weebly.com which worked fine while developing the compnay but I dont get any SEO on those pages. Does anyone have ideas or tips on where I can host my site for FREE like Office Live and have all the SEO I want. I am pretty new to this stuff and pretty much muddle my way through learning as I go. This is me, right now...

Thank you.....

Hi While I really, truly do understand the desire to keep startup costs to a minimum, the amount it will cost to host your site on a proper, paid account is negligible - especially when you consider the benefits to your site (no ads, no one else's URL stuck in there [ie - SEO benefits]).

If someone has found a great, totally free, no ads hosting solution I'm sorry to say I haven't heard about it yet.

There are many threads right here in this section [Domain Registration and Hosting] that may help provide more info. And in the meantime, perhaps someone will jump in here with a newly discovered free option!

I go with Godaddy.com and thru a special I receive 10 pages for $9.95 a month and registering my domain name for a year was only $1.95. It's been great and the website tools are really good.

I agree with Tess, the problem with free sites is that you tend to get loads of unwanted adverts appearing.

You really are best off going for a host that you pay for and you can get some great deals most hosting companies have special offers. you need to shortlist the hosts that you are interested and compare what the offer you.

Webhosting does not have to cost a fortune. Just don't buy the cheapest one or the most expensive. The hosting company I use charges $12.45 a month (CDN) for both windows and linux or $6.45 a month if you just want linux hosting. They have 24x7 tech support and great service.

I've got the $12 service but am working on changing my site to a blog site and if it works next year I'll go for the $6.45 hosting.

One thing I recommend you look for in a company is support - live support 24 x 7 - to me that's one of the most important things. I fired my old web hosting company because they were in Edmonton and my email went down for a day and couldn't reach anyone until close to 11:00 AM and this was on a weekday.

I use Startlogic for all my sites except my VA business only because I got in on Officelive when it had the free domain/hosting option forever (well, till they change their mind anyway).
My site at Startlogic cost me 75.30 for the year. The domain was free when I bought hosting. I have several other domains through them which all cost $8.95 or $9.95 for the whole year. I host all my domains on the one account and it doesn't cost any extra.
