Default Web Hosting Company ----suggestions?
The title speaks for itself. I purchased my domains but I don't know what Hosting company to use. I'm on a tight budget.

I welcome any information and advice.

Thanks

I have used Arvixe for quite some time now and they plans are inexpensive monthly.

They offer Fantastico and Cpanel as part of the package.
Quote:
Fantastico offers a simple, easy-to-use and organized interface to find and install the applications you need in less than 5 minutes.
What I like about them is they allow multiple domains, unlimited email addresses, automatic backup and recovery and that is the short list. Their customer service is tops and will help walk you through whatever may come your way.

Please feel free to PM me with any questions you may have about them.

I use HostGator, which has hosting plans starting at $4.95/month. BlueHost is another popular choice that I've heard good things about, and it's also less than $10/month. Both have cPanel and Fantastico.

I use Yahoo Small Business Webhosting but I can't give you any reliable reviews because I never researched any other options (until now) but so far so good. We pay about $10/mth for the domain and webhosting services. You can google webhosting reviews to see some good options. Here is a link to one review for the top 10 webhosting companies (Yahoo is in 10th place).

I hope this helps.

I use HostPapa, and have had no issues at all. The customer service is prompt and helpful every time I've dealt with them, and even had a response come on New year's Day!

Their plans start at $4.95 per month - unlimited domains, bandwidth, space and free domain for life. The Fantastico and CPanel are features here too.

If you're interested in them, send me a pm and I'll give you my affiliate code!

I've used Bluehost with a client and think it is a great quality hosting package, and if I ever do need a change, would look at them first. I think they are a bit more expensive, but better quality than some alternatives.

Good luck!

I left Yahoo and moved to Inmotion Hosting ( inmotionhosting.com ) in December. Although I have some learning to do regarding some open source programs I can now use, I'm pretty happy.

They have a couple different plans to choose from.

I'm using FatCow. It's $5.00 one time, since you already purchased your domains, for the minimoo plan. Then you can upgrade to the larger plan when ready and it's around $40 I think. I've been very happy with them so far

I use HostMonster. I love their rate, customer service, and CPanel, which is a page full of tech tools and software to do everything from build your website yourself, manage email responders, to checking the stats of your website visitors.

I'm not sure if anyone is aware of this (but you probably are), but when I became a member of IVAA, I signed up for their free web hosting and it's been good so far. It is run and managed by volunteers if I"m not mistaken, but I haven't had any issues so far.

I thought I was understanding what I needed to do to create a website, get a domain and find a web host. But there is more to learn . . . such as What is cPanel and Fantastico? I googled Fantastico and the explanations don't explain it very well.

As you probably know,
Image is EVERYTHING in business, especially when you are Virtual!

I have been with these guys for over 6 years now and love them! Hosting only costs $7.95 a month. (Or cheaper depending upon the plan you choose)

How creative did you want to get?
You do not have to know how to build a web site using the program I use!

It is very simple, and you can be as creative as you want, or add a simple template your text and photos publish and you’re done!
If you are creative like me, wither you know how to code or not, there are no boundaries. The program I use to build web sites can be down loaded for free! It is a - WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) web site building program

With my VH hosting provider you’ll get a free registered domain name, as many email accounts as you need or want, your own C-panel, and even fully integrated shopping carts - There are so many add-ons that I can’t count them all! Plus outstanding full tech support, and a 24/7 community forum with amazing people there ready to help you with anything that has to do with web site design or even computer issues!

And they have video tutorials for almost everything ! Even C-Panel along with Fantastico are all explained!

You can even download the free BV web builder program and test it out before signing up for hosting. Please take a look and let me know what you think!

Here is the link for my hosting provider:
VH Hosting
& link to the FREE web site builder:
BV Web Site Building Program

I hope this helps you!

When looking at hosting, do you put the clients account under your account or have them create their own? I was wondering because I am trying to decide which package to pick. ie. hostgator.com has hatchling package for only one domain.

I use 1and1 which offer a wide range of prices. Have a look at their website to see which package is more suitable for you. I´ve been with them for a few months and had no problems at all.
