Well I have narrowed it down to 3 web hosting companies after looking at about 10 of them. My top three are
webhostinghub.com
Green Geeks.com
Host Papa.com

Has anyone used these? The criteria was these 3 companies have good support for the web designing novice, me. The domains were a one time fee and then free for life. The monthly rate on a lot of the other companies doubled after the first year and you had to pay for a domain name every year.
Two out of the three companies run completely on wind energy so that is good for the enviroment

I haven't heard of any of these, so I'm sorry I can't help in that regard - we've been with the same company for years and years (ace-host.net) so it's been a long time since I've looked at hosting options.

I just wanted to say that I love that your research included looking for green companies. That's great!

I use webhostinghub and I think they're pretty good. I've never had any downtown except once I got an email from them saying my account has been suspended because of high bandwidth use. So I called them to find out what was going on. Apparently a hacker installed some plugin that used up a lot of bandwidth, they removed it and my site was up and running again in like 30 min. I think they're pretty affordable and have good customer service.

I have never heard of any of them either. I use HostGator. I love their customer service. They are affordable, and easy to use.

I love Bluehost. I cannot stand godaddy! they make things complicated and I worked as a technical engineer in my past life. lol

I'm researching webhosts as well and based on the reviews I've read I will NOT use godaddy. I will probably end up going with Host Gator. They have really great reviews and I read repeatedly that they have great customer service and their prices are great!

OK - here's a very remedial question. Does webhosting allow me to design individual client websites using their respective domain names but created under my "brand". In other words, is the web "host" viewable by my client or do they see it solely as my company?
