Default Web Hosting Assistance Needed
I have read all the posts under this section and I still don't have clarity on where I should host my website. My site is currently being built by a graphic designer (family member) in HTML and may contain some flash. I personally am unfamiliar with both. I currently do not blog, however that may change.

Since my site is not being built on a blog platform, what web hosting service would you recommend to host my current HTML site that could also host a blog in the future?

Thanks in advance,
Amanda

Most hosting companies can host your blog and website. Since you are having it built by someone, you may want to make sure you will be able to update it. If not, is your friend going to be updating it for you?

Try signing up with the Vista Print Reseller program, then you can use their services for business cards, brochures and website hosting. I use them for selling business cards. I create the logo and then upload it to them and they print on quality card stock.

I use weebly.com for hosting my site. It allows me to manipulate the HTML so I can put in what ever I want. They charge 39.99 a year for hosting. But, then they also charge for the footer and the header etc.

So watch out for the "little" things they can charge you for. That goes for all of the hosting places.

There is also Google, their link is: https://www.google.com/sites

I hope that has been some help.

Andrea
There are a lot of hosting sites out there.

I recommend Ace Net hosting www.ace-host.net but there are plenty of good options out there. I would recommend choosing a company that offers excellent and QUICK support, that doesn't charge you for things like emails, a database [which you will need if/when you blog] etc. - those really should all come standard with a good basic hosting package.

Expect to pay about $15 a month to get what I would consider really good hosting.

Hope that helps!

I used Dayanahost for the first couple of years I was in business. It served my needs well. The only reason I switched was because I went to a Joomla site and my web designer offers hosting for her clients.

When I used DayanaHost it was $14.99 per year and it had cpanel access which was great. Here is the link to compare their different plans:

They also had pretty good support when I used it.

Amanda as with many things in the business you just need to price and compare. If you are in the US Network Solutions www.networksolutions.com has been great for me. I tried several bigger cheaper web hosting solutions but did not like the customer support. Network Solutions answers the phone and you are usually speaking with a tech within 15 minutes. Their standard hosting packing is $9.99 per month and comes with a domain name and email. For $5 more a month it comes with IMAP email which I highly recommend.

Happy hunting!

I use BlueVoda. IF you are not html savvy and want to do your own site, they have a site builder. They are really nice and freindly and the support is awesome, they have customer support on the phone, in forums with examples, tutorials..etc.

Hi Amanda,

I am currently researching web hosting companies too. I didn't realize there were so many companies out there. Click here to read the reviews of some of the top rated companies. This may be helpful in your search or at least provide a good starting point.

Best of luck.

I have narrowed it down to two. Blue Host and Just Host. They have everything I need to get started, plus all the extras if I decide to go with a wordpress site or blog. Thank you to everyone who responded.

If you haven't made up your mind between BH and JH, I use BlueHost for all my sites. Love it! Their customer service is great, too.

So much for narrowing it down to two vendors. I ended up going with Globat.
