Question Is it a waste to have 2 different domains/websites?
Hi!

I have a question I would appreciate your thoughts on. I originally started my business as a professional organizer, but have now entered the world of VA. My current website references both aspects-but I was wondering is it worth it to have another website under a different name strictly for my VA side. The reason I am asking is that Microsoft Live Office has a free website and I thought it may be good to take advantage of that. I don't want to be confusing to clients - but when they see B Organized by Bridget - I don't think that "virtual assistant" comes to their mind.

I don't want to create more work for myself - but my thoughts were starting this new website and all my VA marketing would have the new web address. Any feedback will be much appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Funny you should ask, Bridget. I just made a second website, to distinguish my writing/editing services from social media marketing services. I don't know if it's better like this or not, but one thing seemed to be apparent to me: I was confusing people by trying to offer many different services on one site. So with two different domain names and two whole separate sites, everything is very simple.

Bridget, I'm doing the same thing. I have one that is a current VA site, and one will be a VA site geared in a different direction with different content than my current SunRise site (more specialized as Mary is doing). The third one is web design as a focus that I've been renovating FOREVER. My first VA site took precedence to get my biz up and running.

Now, if I only find time to work on those other sites in earnest.

Thanks so much for your input ladies- and LOVE both of your websites! I have 2 names I am batting around - "My VA 2 Go" or "Virtual Office Lady" - your thoughts?

Bridget,

I agree, having 2 or more sites is better, you can have all of them connected in some way but it helps to keep things clear and simple for potential clients.

Regarding your names, I guess it all depends on what type of VA services you are planning on offering, my preference would be to go with the My VA 2 Go. My only caveat with both names is it seems like it would "typical secretarial", or one off projects type of service that you would be offering. If this is the case, then you've hit the nail on the head! If not you might want to re-think the names. Also many people still aren't clear on the term VA, so that might be confusing to some people.

When I look to a name to use I try to find something that is all encompassing to what type of service I am offering or how it can benefit the potential client. Redhead Business Management states that I offer a business management service, which is what I do.

Hi Renee! (Great business name by the way!) I thought about the VA part of it after I made the post - people not familiar with the name may think I am a veteran! I am a general VA specializing in REVA but I am definately shooting for long term clients. I am at a loss for ideas now - nothing I have come up with is creative like yours. I want to come up with something I will be totally happy with.....thinking.....thinking ....smoke rising.....

I want to try to keep "organizing" in my name - so I have decided with either

My Organized Assistant
or
Your Organized Assistant

Thoughts......

I'd lean more towards Your Organized Assistant, I'm assuming a lot of your administrative tasks are related to being organized - something that is sorely needed from many entrepreneurs! LOL!
