Default Question about Yahoo hosting!
Hello everyone,
I don't have a website yet. I've researching hosting services and choose Yahoo web hosting. They offering a lot of features:
* Easy-to-use design tools
* Designs you can customize
* Reliable and secure hosting
* Advanced design options
* Free domain name
* Unlimited disk space
* Unlimited data transfer
* Unlimited email storage
* 24-hour customer service
* 1,000 email addresses

and much more.
Just looking for some advices because I'm really newbie at this.
Thanks!

I'm sorry I can't offer any input on their services as I've never hosted any of my sites with Yahoo - with these companies the proof usually comes with their customer support. They promise the moon but when you run into trouble are suddenly scarce - not saying it happens with Yahoo, because I don't know, but I am aware of other hosting companies who are notorious for bad, or nonexistent, service when it gets right down to it.

It's incredibly easy to offer a great hosting package with tons of space and lots of email addresses, etc. - our member hosting package is a fine example of that, I think (although at this time we do not offer a website builder). But if there's no one to help you when your site is mucked up those extra features aren't very comforting.

I'd just suggest checking to see how fast their response time is, also look online for "Yahoo hosting reviews" or whatever the name is of the product they're offering to see what other people are saying (and I'd suggest doing that for anything like this, actually.)

I hope that helps - maybe someone who hosts with them can jump in here with some thoughts on the matter!

I had a really, really poor experience with Yahoo Web Hosting. Horrid tech support, and if you use their website builder, then it's not search-engine optimized. YUCK!

I'd recommend just about any service other than Yahoo. For $10 you can get dreamhost, which allows you unlimited domains, storage, emails, etc - and better tech support. It's only ~$10/month, and is a great deal.

You could go to any of the online web template places to create a website with, or even use wordpress to get it up and going. Yahoo, IMHO, is just not worth it, period.

I've personally never had any problem with Yahoo before....it's pretty easy to use and manage. Although, I never had to use their tech support, all other experience was pretty fine.

I'm curious if you have to get Yahoo hosting if you use Yahoo's Sitebuilder. Does anyone know? I'm in the process of setting up a temp webpage with Yahoo Sitebuilder to get me started and am now wondering if I maybe need to just head over to Godaddy.com where it's all together. I've had to call GoDaddy.com before and they were helpful. In regards to Yahoo, I've tried to reach them via phone before for something else and never could find anyone. Makes me wonder now.....

I use Arvex and it is only $40/year with the domain. However I am switching to windows package which is $50/year. I have not had any problems, the customer service is awesome and I had several hosted sites there. I don't know about a sitebuilder because I use my own.

Make a list a questions and contact customer service on your choices, you will know by how they interact with you and if they are only there to sell, sell, sell.

Good Luck

I use Yahoo. I've not had any problems. I was working on a plan to set my own server and do my own. I found out that it may be a hassle moving from Yahoo, but I haven't reached the point where I'm ready to do that.

I've not had to deal with their customer service yet either. I do all of my own work. BUT -- I don't have a lot of whiz-bang stuff with mine either. Dont' want it.

I have to say GoDaddy has great pricing and their support has been great. I share an office with my fiancee and have overheard his support calls with GoDaddy. He is a web developer and recently switched his clients over to GoDaddy and has been very happy. I am switching over myself next month.
