Default Namecheap
I just registered my name at namecheap.com and was wondering if you seasoned VAs can tell me if I should use it to host my website. After I found this forum, I learned that I could have done everything at BlueHost which so many of you seem to like. Do you think it is too late to use BlueHost as my hosting site? I see they have oneclick install of WordPress and I would love to see how WordPress works.

You can use any hosting company that you like. I personally use Arvixe.com and have for years with no problem but any of the good ones will do. You will only need to point your domain to your hosting and customer service should be able to easily help you with that.

Just make sure that whoever you choose allow you email so that you can set up email addresses that are attached to your company. I would also see if they include CPanel as that will make geek life easier too.

Thanks, Lee. I am leaning toward BlueHost, but I just learned that I can't transfer my domain until I have had the account with NameCheap for 60 days. Do you still think it may be possible to Point to my domain to my new web hoster without the wait?

Try to contact them and see if it's possible. Ideally, it should.. because really, some people just purchase domains and use web hosting from other companies.

Yes you can choose any hosting service you like (I use Hostgator) and have my domains all registered at CheapNames.com. I recommend that you keep your domain registration and your Hosting service separate. Often the case is a Domain Registrar specializes in domain registration and their hosting service isn't always the best and vice versa for Hosting services.

I wrote a blog post awhile ago about this very topic that might be helpful.

Thanks so much, Renee. I read your blog and it makes a lot of sense. I have been leaning toward HostGator.
