Default Moving Hosting
I have hosting (fasthost4u.co.uk) for a non va business that I own which allows me unlimited add on domain, subdomain, parked domain

I also have my VA business with a different hosting that I would like to move to the above hosting. I'm a little confused how to go about it, am I right in understanding that my va business should also be in the root directory, because my non va business is already in the root directory, so my question is do i move my VA as add on domain, parked domain or subdomain, or do what the hosting company says and that is to purchase reseller hosting, if I want both businesses to have a root directory.

I'm really sorry if it sounds like a ramble, but I hope you managed to get the gist of it.

Thanks

Hi, I know you posted this a few days ago, but if you still have questions regarding this I'd be happy to help. I currently work full time with a web hosting company, so I know a little something about this topic.

Feel free to drop me a PM anytime.

Hi

I tried to reply to your PM but couldn't as I don't have 25 posts yet. I'm not much of a forum poster as a rule, so at the rate that I DO post...it will take me 10 yrs to get 25 posts here. ugh!

Anyway, I'm hoping that you'll come back to this thread.

My reply to your PM was:

"Personally, I wouldn't have gone with the Reseller's option because Reseller accounts usually give you much less in terms of storage and bandwidth.

If the domains actually belong to you and you are not 're-selling' hosting to another person or person(s) then there's no need to have reseller hosting. Do you wind up paying more for this type of hosting than you did with your other type?

I'm just curious. "

Have a great day!

You have to add it as an add on domain, what is your control panel? cPanel?

Thanks guys to be honest when it comes to hosting issues I'm clueless, I had hoped to get some advice here first before I took the advice of the hosting company because I wasn't 100% sure if what they were telling me was the right thing to do, and because I'm using wordpress as my platform my website, using the fantasitico installation I thought my domains had to go in the root directory, and since I already had a site in the root directory I didn't think it was possible to to have it as an add on domain. They told me upgrading to the reseller package was the only way to get my sites into the root directory.

Codehead my control panel is cPanel. This a big lesson learnt.

Thanks

It's not necessary to have your domains in your root directory, you can simply create add on domains and cPanel will create a sub folder for you, and you will then copy all the files for your add on domain in that folder.

Add on domain is like having another domain.

You won't access this domain like, www.yourolddomain.com/youraddondomain but instead you will access it normally like www.youraddondomain.com just as if it was in the root folder.

Here is how to do this using cPanel:
http://www.cpanel.net/docs/cpanel/Ad...on_domains.htm

Here is what an add-on domain is:

So no, I don't think it's necessary to have a reseller account.
