JustHost.com
I am looking to migrate to another host site . Someone told me about Just Host and I would like to hear some reviews from those who have experience with this hosting company. They are running a special of $3.45/mth and you get quite a bit, but before I spend the money, I want to get some feedback on them from you guys.
BTW, they don't have any annual fees.
Thanks

Re: JustHost.com
Just for reference, how do you migrate hosting companies? I'm thinking I may switch mine.

Angela - Don't know about Just Host, but I recently switched to Bluehost.com and think they're pretty darn good. $6.95/mo.

Re: JustHost.com
Angela,
I just signed with justhost.com the other night. I haven't moved my domain name over because I am going through a name change and I have heard that MS Small Biz Live doesn't transfer well. I am paying $3.95/mo and I was charged $20.00 set-up fee which confused me because they said no hidden fees. I have not spent much time on the site so I still have a lot to learn. The ratings were very good on it so that was why I tried it. Let me know if you go with it, and what you think.
Not sure this helps,
Diana

What kind of problems are you experiencing with MS live small biz? That is who my site is with currently and I hope I don't have problems with transferring my domain.
The setup fee surprises me, since the very first page of their website reads "free instant setup"

Re: JustHost.com
I currently use JustHost and have since July of this past year. Their Cpanel is pretty easy to use and I have not had any problems. The time I tried installing wordpress on my blog and could not get it to work their support was helpful in assisting me and got it figured out. Search online before you buy and see if you can find a coupon. I was able to purchase 2 years at 50% off. Maybe you can get an even better deal. Hope that helps!

Re: JustHost.com
I use JustHost. So far so good. I am using one of their templates
as a placeholder. I havent uploaded my site yet. I agree with the previous poster, their CPanel is very easy to understand and their support team is excellent. Good Luck!

Re: JustHost.com
Cpanel is important... also check which version of cpanel they are using. If they are not using one of the current versions it can make life a little difficult.
So far my 2 favorite hosts are 1and1.com and bluehost.com (bluehost has great! Their cpanel has both Fantastico and Simple Scripts, which are great when installing Wordpress).
I recommend both with no hesitation and I have not had any extra costs with either.
Migrating your site - it will depend upon what type of website you have currently. Is it a template? A custom design? Wordpress site? All of these questions need to be taken into consideration before moving. Talk with tech support before you buy to make sure that your site will transfer smoothly. Nothing worse then a stalled transfer!
Be prepared too that in some cases your website might be down for a few hours up to a day or 2 as the domain migrates over to the new hosting service settings.

bluejeansva,
You posted "Migrating your site - it will depend upon what type of website you have currently. Is it a template? A custom design?"
What is the difference, can you explain? If there is template or custom design when it comes to transferring your website. I also use MS Office Live, and just wanted to know.
Thanks,
Rhonda

Re: JustHost.com
I've used Doteasy.com for years. $25/yr or $45/2 yrs for domain registration and basic hosting. No other fees. The have a free website creator, blog, guestbook, forum, hitcounter, etc.

Re: JustHost.com
What I mean by migrating is redirecting my domain and the actual content, not the design...hope I didn't confuse anyone with my wording. I don't think you can migrate a template.

Re: JustHost.com
Hi Rhonda,
Many web hosts provide templates that are specific to their service. These templates are a great way to start but many times it is not something you can download, backup easily and move to another hosting service.
By custom site I was referring to something that you upload to the hosting service yourself. This is my preferred method since then you have the ability to save and back up everything. You own the design and can move it when you need too, but.... you do have to know and understand design.
Both definitely have their place and their own sets of pros and cons.
Migrating a domain to a new service is a lot less complicated and on average can take approximately 12-24 hours to migrate and repopulate the web with its new settings.
Hope that helps!

Re: JustHost.com
Yes, perfectly clear. Thank you very much. I was wandering if someone could help me out with something. I lost my entire web site. It was on MS Office Live, and I thought I would recreate it in publisher. I cannot get it to upload to the site. I followed the directions, but it just won't work. Something it told me might be wrong is MS Office Live does not allow websites created on 'back server'. Does that mean I cannot create my own site at all and upload it?

Re: JustHost.com
Rhonda, I have been there, done than, got the t-shirt and I wear it every day . MS does not do a very good job explaining things (with the exception of MS Office Online Training). To get your site back on MS Office Live:
1. Sign on
2. Go to Design Site
3. Go to Site Actions and in the drop down box select Deactivate Third Party Design Tools
I don't think you can upload webpages from publisher. I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out a way to do it and finally a web technician told me you don't get the same functionality using publisher as you do with web site design tools like Dreamweaver and some of the others. Not to mention you have to have a clear knowledge of HTML and CSS.
You might be better off to continue using MS Office Live or going with a paid hosting service and using their templates. This is what I did and when my business starts to generate revenue I plan on having a site built by someone who knows what they are doing, because Lord knows I don't I can do just enough to have a site up and running, but that's about it. Nothing fancy no bells and whistles, just plain ole simple.
Hope this helps
