Default I feel lost...
I feel like I'm constantly asking questions about this...and I am!
I'm just lost.

I am starting over with my website...I registered my new domain name with Godaddy, and just signed up to do my web hosting with Hostgator. I went to the area in hostgator that said 'QuickInstall' to try to do the WordPress quickinstall.

I got a confirmation email stating it was ready:
Congratulations!
Your installation is ready. You can access it now by going to {...}
so I clicked my web address.

I comes up with a screen for Godaddy, with adds, and other things, but no place to start creating my website.
Did I do something wrong when trying to install it?
I don't see it in my applications, or in my downloads.

I'm just lost.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just want to say "thanks!" in advance for helping me deal with my past (and was seems to be present) web issues!

I swear, I will get the hang of it!!!

Hi LaVon It sounds like your domain is still 'on' GoDaddy.
Did you make sure to set the nameservers for your site? That needs to be done inside your GoDaddy account/control panel.

You can get your nameservers from your hosting company - it was probably included in the registration email they sent you.

LaVon -

With Hostgator you really should feel totally comfortable with calling them about any of this type of thing. They are 24/7...and they truly are some of the most patient and helpful customer service reps I've ever seen. Not that we of course are not willing to help here, but with them you get immediate help and you can resolve it very quickly because you are talking live with someone.

Every now and then you'll get someone who's not so nice (nobody's perfect)...but just hang up and call right back if you do.

They help with all kinds of issues, even if it isn't directly Hostgator related. If it somehow ties with things that interact with them, they try to help.

Tess,

Thank you! I was unaware that I had to do anything with the nameservers. I got those entered into my Godaddy account.

Pam,
Thank you also, I will get ahold of Hostgator's support to help walk me through it.

I am looking forward to learning how to create the new site! Just had to get over a couple road bumps

LaVon,

Hostgator has great support. I have spent many hours with them asking questions and watching the many tutorials they offer.

In fact, I spent New Years Eve a few years ago talking to one of their support persons, wishing the young man a "Happy New Year" when the clock struck 12! (I was determined to meet my goal of getting a new website up that year!)

I Google 'everything'. I YouTube 'everything'. I watch videos and read blog posts and articles. Hostgator is a popular host and there are many, many resources online created by their customers. I feel you will find the same.

I'm looking forward to seeing your new website. Let us know how you are doing.

Good Luck!

Janine

LaVon,

I have to agree with what everyone has said so far. Hostgator has the best support. And, like Janine, I have spent a holiday with their chat support. I've never been sorry that I chose them to host my WordPress site.
