Default Hosting and site builders
I am driving myself crazy looking for a good hosting company that also includes a website builder. The place where I currently am hosting my other business is basically an estore and most pages include "store" in the url which I don't want with my VA website. However, they do have mostly what you need included and you only have to add a template or add html to set up the site. I haven't had to use frontpage or anything external to build and operate it. Can anyone give any advice on what to do so that I can still have a professional looking site?

Hi there I'm not a good one to answer this because I've never used a template system but I do know just from interacting with VAs here on the boards that a large percentage of our members do. They seem to be using Microsoft Office Live, GoDaddy's Website Tonight, and Homestead...among others - those three might be a good place to start!

Sorry I can't be more helpful on this one but surely others will log on and add their two cents to the question

Honestly, I think you would be better off going to a host that includes Fantastico scripts, and then loading WordPress. Then go to http://themes.wordpress.net/ and look through the many many templates and see if you can find one that suits your business. You can create a site that is not so "bloggy" looking and it will be easy to update.

I made a small (4 page) site recently for an author, and since she had her email for years at mindspring (now earthlink), she wanted her site hosted there. I didn't use their onsite web design services, but they looked simple to use, and the maintenance is super easy. Cost about $10 per month, as I recall. (In addition to earthlink subscription, I guess.)
For what it's worth.
Perhaps unfortunately, you have about three million choices.

I can vouch for Homestead. It is very easy to use. I used one of their templates for my website and had it up in 2 days. Good luck finding a webhost.

Thanks everyone!

Too bad that homestead makes you pay for 6 months or a year up front. Or am I looking in the wrong place?

I think you are looking at the wrong place. You do not have to pay for a year or 6 months up front.

You can also try it free for one month and then pay monthly!

GoDaddy is so restrictive IMO I would try another one that has been suggested.
