Default Hosting Services
Hello everyone,

I'm not satisfied with my hosting service. I can't even insert codes unless I endup paying like $22 for the whole service. Do you mind giving me any ideas on what you think is the best hosting service around. The hosting service I have right now provided me with a website builder so I didn't get any Web designing software. I would also like to know what software is easiest as I'm not an expert in programming and all that. Any thoughts and ideas? I'm going to request a cancellation of my services but I don't know if I could keep my domain which I really want. HELP!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!

Viviana, your domain registration and your hosting service are generally two different things. If you're not sure that you'll get to keep your domain (URL) when you cancel hosting with this current company then it's best to ask them first.

As to hosting - as you know we offer hosting here at the forums specifically for VAs with business sites, but we do not offer a website building or template program at this time.

I'd suggest double checking the ownership of your domain (if you paid for it's registration then it's certainly yours) and then investigate some of the free website programs that are so popular among our members - I have heard good things about GoDaddy and Microsoft Office Live.

Good luck! I understand how frustrating a bad webhost situation can be!

May I suggest Hostgator (www.hostgator.com)? I have been using them for the last couple of years and the service/customer service there has been great.

If you really need a website building feature, go with www.1and1.com. GoDaddy's hosting and customer service were absolutely horrible. Their awful user interface caused me to delete an entire website that wasn't backed up - and I'm normally really good with that kind of thing! Anyway, I'd stay away...

My husband and I both use 1and.com and their website building feature is very simple.

Hope that helps!

Thank you Tess and Davida.

Brianna, I do have 1and1.com and after doing some more research I think I can stay with 1and1.com after finding out that other hosting services just offer that, hosting.

I guess I was not happy to find out that I had to end up paying more. There was an offer and I thought the price was for the whole year but it was actually for the first three months and then the regular price. Do you have the builder plus? Because it seems to be the only way that I can put something with codes.

After checking it all, I can't complain I mean, I have the availability to do chat, blogs, newsletters, etc. all in the package. Another question: Do you think that having the business hosting service plus the website builder plus is a reasonable price? What do you recommend on the 1and1.com service?

Thank you.

I have been using GoDaddy for 7 months and not had a single problem; in fact, their customer service was just great to work with (Brianna - I wonder what happened with your account that they messed you up so badly...) and the cost is only $4.95/month. I use their Website Tonight web builder and was able to figure out and add codes as needed.
