I just purchased my domain last week from Godaddy and during the process I noticed a promo code box. I did a quick search and found Godaddy "Zine" codes that discount domain purchases to $6.95. There are a couple of other discounts as well.

Thanks, I was looking into godaddy....I have a question about them...do I use the discount codes to create a domain? Then when I have the domain, what do I do with it? I don't have a website but my ISP is my cable company. I'd have to find a host to host that domain...is that how this works?

Yes, Godaddy will also host your site for a reasonable price, and you can pay monthly so if you don't like them you can cancel within that month. I've read good reviews about their services, and I got my own url through them, as well as chose their basic hosting package. All told, for registering 1 url, web mail and 1 month hosting, the total cost was $31 USD. They have a site builder but I don't recommend it. With my husband's help, I used Front Page. I'd never used it before but I was amazed how much like Word it is. I think if you know word, you can create your page in FrontPage with no trouble.

I too used a coupon code from a random search and saved 20% on my domain names. I remembered from before that when I purchased a domain name from them, then they email you with various offers. So, I didn't purchase the website tonight or the hosting yet, thinking I'm sure they'll send me another offer via email. If not, I'll just surf the net for another coupon code.
