Default Free Email through Domain Service
I just purchased my domain name last night through GoDaddy! One more thing ticked off my never-ending list!
I just received a phone call from them thanking me (nice customer service!) and we discussed the free service that goes with the registration, specifically the free email account. I already have an AOL business email and was wondering if anyone can give me an insight as to whether this is a better idea to have the email linked with my site (example: info@ikenorganize dot com or would the AOL account be sufficient? Or use both?! This wasn't an issue for me until the phone call!!!

I have a business e-mail for clients only. I also have an e-mail account for vendors and marketing. Then I have a 3rd e-mail account with auto replys for information only, which I alway follow up with a phone call, even if I can not assit that person. Because you never know who they know!!
I have the the accounts linked so that i can either check all of them at once or indiviually

Thank you so much for your reply. I was thinking that I needed only one email but you've opened my eyes to different facets that I didn't consider! I'll definitely rethink the "one email' thing more carefully!

Barb:
One thing I did not include earlier was:
I also have through my website 10 more inactive e-mail accounts available. My thinking on this was WHEN not if I get busy enough to hire additional VA (subcontractors or employees) I have the e-mail accounts available to active when the need arises. That way if it does not work out with the "hired" help The e-mail and all of it content belong to me, myself, and my company as work product same with all the clients !!

Such an excellent idea! Thank you! Something I need to keep in mind! My business plan doesn't reflect growing to that size, but I like your plan! You just never know what the future might bring - in business as well as your personal life! Thanks for pushing my thoughts further into the future! Planning "big" never hurts!

Right on. It feels good to cross stuff of the to-do list! I set up three free email accounts with my web hoster, and I really only use one for now. I have a personal email account (obviously), and I have found that using my web hosted email account(s) for business related purposes has worked out well. I don't want to have too many places I have to remember to go and retrieve emails. Whatever works for you individually. I like to get all my emails in one place and sort into folders. Simplify, that's what I say. You wouldn't want to let anything from a client slip thru the cracks! Good luck!!

Lisa.

Barb - It's generally thought that having an email address that echoes your domain name is a good idea. Better than anything generic like yahoo or aol. Looks more professional.

Just FYI.
