Re: Domain and Web Hosting
Hi there! I may be in the minority, but I recommend that you split your package having the domain registrar with one company and the hosting with another. I use goDaddy for domain purchases because they are always having discounts and specials, you can pick up a domain name for $7. I use HostGator for my hosting and I'll let you in on something - they are having a huge sale for black Friday. I just got an affiliate newsletter and hosting packages are going to be as low as $.99 per month (regularly $4.95). So if you can wait until Friday, you can get a really good deal.
HostGator isn't a domain registrar, they use eNom or another third party for domain names and they aren't that great in my opinion. I've had to change hosts in the past and moving a website ispretty inexpensie but having to main domain names can be pretty costly if you have a few (I have about 15). Transfers are roughly $6.99 per name per year so it can add up quickly. This is why i recommend splitting them up. You can also go with Godaddy for hosting and domain name registration, but I don't like GD's control panel. HostGator uses cPanel - much more flexible.
Hope that helps!
