Default Brain Overload!
Hi all,

So I've been doing my research to try to find out what I want/need for a website. I think I'm more confused now than I was before!

This is all new to me - I think I did one for a college class way back in the 90's. I seem to remember lots of bright yellow smilies - a la the dancing hamster meme!

Anyway, is there a quick & dirty way of deciding what to use? Or, not really that, but how much space you really need?

I think that I'm trying to balance what I would use to start with, and then (because changing hosts doesn't sound easy) with what I would grow into. I'm thinking positive growth. Yay Me!

And, if you blog, do you need more space? This all started with looking at WordPress, and has spun out (of control!) from there.

On overload here! And, oh dear, I have those dumb search overload commercials going through my brain now - and I don't really like Bing!

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Please don't be so hard on yourself. There are days when you feel brain overload when you are just starting to realize all you need to do, but it will all come together.

That you're thinking positive growth is one of your more important steps. You'll do just fine.

Just a thought, you might go to The Site Wizard. They have some great tutorials.

Ah, Thanks Janet! I do believe that will help immensely! I really appreciate that - I love that the first link I saw was for beginner websites -a-z. :-)

I'm kind of a self-deprecating kind of person, so I probably come across as a lot more...meek? than I really am in my head! I also forget that the internet doesn't have all of those non-verbal cues that fly across our faces as we talk (and type...)
So you couldn't see my smirk as I remembered those god-awful smilies! Big yellow ones. I think they bounced. Wow. There were rows of them - like wallpaper! Oh god. I HAVE developed taste as I've gotten older, I promise!

Sarah (laughing!)

I'm happy to hear you both like the site. Sarah, I think the Beginners A-Z guide is a great place to start. I like the blogging tutorials and HTML as well. If a person likes a lot of graphics, they might not like this website. However IMHO, I think they might have missed out on a lot of good information.

Well, after reading through the Beginners section, and following through the inter-linked links it's beginning to make more sense to me!
So THANK YOU again for posting it. I enjoy reading so I'm happy with it!

I think there are SO many options that I was getting confused - especially since they all recommend something different.

I'm a big fan of KISS!

Sarah

Thanks very much. This was a useful site - it affirmed information I have found in other posts and articles.
