Great replies! I appreciate everyone taking the opportunity to comment.

I am definitely going to go the postcard route and I also like the 3 postcard approach.

Hi Lori,
I too have a full-time job aside and work my VA business part-time. Great feedback! I create a postcard through Vistaprint however have not ordered them yet. I am going to look into Moo.com. Thank you for posting this thread.

Haven't heard of moo before so I went to go check our their site. I really like their designs but after looking at their prices and checking Vistaprint's, Vistaprint is a lot cheaper. If anyone's going to try postcard marketing for the first time maybe try Vistaprint first. You can get 100 for $19 and at Moo for $20 you only get 20.

For $19 I may just look into it next month and send some out to local businesses in my neighborhood, plus postage.

Not sure how else to explain the difference between the two, other than share this blog post

And yes, I have used Vistaprint in the past...

Great blog post, Bridie. Thank you for sharing.

I haven't used Moo but I have used Vistaprint. My only complaints about Vistaprint are the shipping charges, which can be quite expensive, and the fact that while the type on my proof copy looked good and sized well, on my actual cards, it was much smaller than I expected.

I will most certainly take Bridie's blog points to mind when I prepare to order business cards and post cards for my new business.

You also need to be careful as I've noticed they are a bit sneaky in adding extra items to your shopping cart. First time I ordered I hadn't realised they'd also added on some labels that I didn't need... expensive lesson!

I don't like Vistaprint's matte cards. I've seen them on a number of a occasions and I just don't like the quality so I ordered mine glossy but even then only the front was glossy and not the back. Maybe bc the front was color and the back black & white? Not sure, but I thought it would be a higher quality gloss that stood out more, which it's not. It's more like a glossy sheen, but it still looks a lot better than the matte finish.

If i do the vistaprint postcards I'm going to get them glossy so they stand out more.

My postcard campaign was a flop. Maybe it was my card - maybe it didn't educate the reader enough? I don't know, but I doubt I'll do it again.

ALL of my clients have come from referrals.
