Try searching this forum for 'mailing list' and you will find lots of threads on ways to get/create mailing lists for free.

Thanks I'm going to do some searching and going to try this today!

I just ordered my postcards about a 100 to start off with but I really don't have a mailing list yet. I was just going to start off by mailing them locally to the small businesses here in town then go from there. I hope I get some leads!

I am currently waiting for my postcards to be printed and sent to me. I live in Australia, and have targeted the small businesses in my local area. Should postcards be addressed and posted, or can delivering them in a mailbox drop work? As these have taken up a chunk of my marketing budget for the month, I don't want to get it wrong.

Hi Bridgeland,
Although most of the time I have done delivery of the postcards through the post I have also been in the situtation were the only thing I could do was to hand delivery them. I got a few responses that way as well. (This is from another business) Since you are marketing to businesses it may be even better to hand deliver the postcard and have some face to face time with the potenial clients. In the past when I wanted to get clents for my business I went to some extreme as well and I would bake cookies wrap them up in a pretty package and attach my flyer or postcard to it with a bow and hand deliver that. That gave me the best results. Hope this helps some! Good Luck.

In the US, it is illegal to deposit ANYTHING in a mailbox; only the postal service is allowed to do so. That being said, I like the idea of hand-delivering a 'goody' with your postcard as an opportunity to meet your potential clients. Be sure and 'drill down' to your target market to minimize the expense.
