Default Please Review & Comment - Market Letter
Hi all, I'm applying for a position on craiglist. One of the problems with this site is this statement on the ad "Please do not contact job poster about other services, products or commercial interests." Do you think my below letter represents anything in this statement?

Please tell me what you think of the letter. I'm still trying to secure my first client and this one would be perfect. Thanks

To Whom It May Concern:

I found your ad on Craigslist for an administrative professional. Per your instructions, I am attaching this cover letter, resume and three business references.

I would like to introduce myself as an independent contractor and show you how I could possibly save you money by hiring my services. I am the owner of Virtually Linked, a virtual assistant firm. As you will notice on my resume, I have over 15 years of administrative experience. I have a proven record of accomplishment in coordinating, planning and supporting daily operational and administrative functions. I can complete projects in an efficient manner, therefore, save you money. I have a vast knowledge of computer software and QuickBooks is software I use for my business.

By partnering with Virtually Linked you will be guaranteed top quality service, dedication and a individual with a interest in creating a long-term relationship with your organization.

In the current economic environment, there are many candidates applying for this position, however, as the economy improves employees will begin to pursue higher salary positions. By employing Virtually Linked we are working as partners and your organization will be treated as clients. You can avoid reposting the position, interview candidates, and training the new hire. Training in itself is costly.

By collaborating with Virtually Linked you will have advantages of paying only for the time you need and receive the benefits of simplified procedures and process. Considering this is a contract position working from home, you will enjoy the benefits of a partner who is set-up to work from home without distractions, all the necessary equipment and software in place, professional atmosphere, and established as a sole proprietor business to pay individual taxes and health insurance. As a result, Virtually Linked is able to focus more time on your projects and less time on personal matters.

As a non-profit organization, your goal is to provide public health information to the community without any monetary profits. Your goal is also to keep overhead cost to a minimum. Many individuals do not truly understand how to accomplish this task. Virtually Linked would like the opportunity to help you lower your administrative cost.

If you find my qualifications satisfactory and would like to discuss how Virtually Linked can benefit your organization please contact me at [edited by site admin]

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I don't think it at all violates that statement. You're actually applying for the job, just not to be an employee of thier organization/company. Nicely worded...and to the point!

Hi Jessica, your letter reads as a professional show of interest in this position, I think that's fair enough. I guess more than the standard Craigslist warning I'd gauge the tone of the ad itself. If the person stresses that they want someone in-house or it sounds like what they need to have done requires someone to be in the office then I'd save this great communication (and your time) for a situation that's more open to operating virtually.
Without seeing their ad it's impossible to say - trust your own judgment and best of luck in finding that first client!

Your letter is in direct response to the post advertised. You are not violating the clause. You are simply applying and asking the employer to entertain the thought of sub contracting the said role.

The letter is great and I agree with Tess if they clearly state that they need an in house associate then I would save the letter for someone or a company that is open to going virtual.
