I've done both the email route and regular mail. I like the cost effectiveness of using email and it does work but the one advantage of using regular mail is that you can include your business card.

If you can personalize. Everyone feels special when they receive a letter that is addressed to their name. On the other hand, if you use the wrong name, or an ex-employees name, the potential client may be turned off. Thus I would only personalize if I was sure that the name was correct (and SPELLED correctly).

Another good marketing tool is to send out postcards. Postage is only $0.28 to send a postcard, as opposed to $0.44 to send a regular letter.

Just curious...if you decide to send an Introductory Letter initially, would you send it via regular mail or email? I'm thinking regular mail as email may be considered spam, right? Unless you have already made contact with them previously.

I use an automated greeting card/post card system as well. It is fabulous.

Here's another suggestion:

Postcard Magnets. It comes with a magnet to put on the file cabinet or fridge. Check out http://www.postcardmagnet.com.

Hello

I love the ideal of letters and postcards. I'm not a great writer does anyone have a letter/postcard to share and I have another question, hopefully someone can help me with this. For potential clients should a proposal for work be sent to them , bascially a proposal for work. I was wondering if there is such an animal.
