Letters to Potential Clients
Hi,
I just wanted to get some feedback from you guys. I have decided to send out letters to potential clients to introduce myself and my services. My question is do I just create a "general" letter or do I personalize each letter?
Any thought and advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Letters to Potential Clients
Hi,
In my opinion I think it would be nice to personalize each letter. Some businesses might get lots of "generic" letters everyday. I would be more likely to work with someone that took the time to find out information about my business. It might take a little bit more time or work but I think it would be worth it to personalize. Hope this helps! Good luck with your letters.

Jocelyn,
Thanks for the advice. I was thinking the same thing, make it a bit more professional and personal.

Re: Letters to Potential Clients
Yes, if possible, make it personal. Even if you mail merge in ms word and leave a BLANK where the name goes that would be good. This way, you could possibly write in the name yourself which makes it personal.
Also, try sending now as a HOLIDAY GREETING and Introduction to who you are - I may do that too O

Re: Letters to Potential Clients
I want to do this too! Can someone please help me write up a letter? What about just sending a seasonal postcard with bullet points instead of a letter?
What are your thoughts?
Thank you,
Stephanie

Re: Letters to Potential Clients
Hi Stephanie,
I think a seasonal postcard with bullet points is a great idea! You can still personalize it and highlight your services. I think I will try something similar when I get my business going. I think it would be easier than writing up a letter since I am not the greatest writer!

Re: Letters to Potential Clients
Well as far as my letter goes, I am basically going to just introduce myself state why I do, and how it would benefit to utilize my services. I plan to also do postcards but not at this point.
Thanks for all the good advice!

A personal Holiday card sounds wonderful. What a great idea. I'm going to try it for the New Year promotion.

Re: Letters to Potential Clients
I send a greeting card to all new prospects to introduce myself and talk a little about the services I offer. I use Send Out Cards ( www.sendoutcards.com/brightcards). It is an online greeting card company where you create the card from your computer and they print and mail a physical greeting card for you. The card comes in what looks like a hand written envelope with an actual stamp so it is sure to be opened. You can even add a picture of yourself.

Re: Letters to Potential Clients
I was also going to do a letter but because I am not the greatest writer, I created a postcard. A graphic artist helped me with the layout, colors and format and I wrote the content. In January, I will do a mailing to a targeted list of small business owners. Anybody have ideas to develop a target list? My strategy was to use Reference USA's website to search with specific criteria, i.e. location, size, gross sales, etc.

Re: Letters to Potential Clients
Hi
I love the idea of postcards and letters, however as I'm only starting out I'm not that financial. Therefore, I sent personalised emails to all potential small business in the area. I spent hours finding out the correct person to email and have put together a little database. I have received a about 6 leads out of this which is very pleasing. However, my point is - personalise, personalise, personalise. It just shows the potential Client how dedicated you are.
Cheers

Re: Letters to Potential Clients
I would suggest a postcard or flyer introducing yourself and services. I have had more response using postcards than with traditional letters.
