I think a small packet can be sufficient as long as it gives enough info about what you do and how you do it that the potential clients aren't left scratching their heads over how they can use your services. Your info packet doesn't necessarily have to be 'bigger' if you've been in business longer.

Maybe adding in a list of 'X number of things X company can do for you in less than an hour' would be a good marketing tool as well.
And don't forget to make it easy for them to find your website, call and email you - that should be on everything.

You could include a zillion possible things, but covering the very basics with good solid information is just fine too.

Check the marketing section for other ideas about what you might want to include.

Elaine - Maybe try to imagine your perfect client, and s/he gets your packet (small can be very attractive!) ... Think about what that person would want to find in your packet, what would they be looking for and what information would they need? What can you show a person on paper that will make them want to hire you?
Just an idea ....

Hi Elaine!

Here are a few things you can include if you want to expand that packet.

1) How about a couple of case studies? Each case study can include
--a brief background of each client (how long in business, what industry, size of company)
--a brief description of the problem the client had
--a detailed description of how YOU solved the problem
--a quote/testimonial from the client.

2) an FAQ sheet? (Include some questions that are not listed on your Web site FAQ, but also put a note at the bottom to see www.....faq, if you have one there, for more info.)

3) a quick contact form? Include basics like name, e-mail, phone, but leave the majority of the form open space so the prospect can list his questions. (Be sure to include a note saying your response will be a no-cost, no-obligation consultation.)

4) If you do any kind of design work (Web sites, logos, DTP, etc.), samples--especially "before" and "after"--would be great also. You know what they say: a picture is worth a thousand words.

I'm getting so excited thinking about YOUR packet that I've just started a list for reworking mine. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Elaine,

You have some really great suggestions already! I think a contact form is very important, as already mentioned. I wanted to add that you may want to include something about your rates, as that is probably going to be the first page some of your prospects will be looking for!

Hi Elaine. Something else to consider, who are you sending this packet to? Is it going out randomly to businesses that may or may not be interested in your services? Or is it going out to businesses that have already expressed an interest? If you are sending it out to random recipients, I say keep it short and sweet. You don't want to waste your marketing materials on businesses that may not have any interest what so ever. Additionally, if your materials do fall into the hands of someone who is interested, you will have included just enough information to encourage them to either call you or visit your web site. If you are sending your packet to potential clients whom you know have already expressed an interest in your services, then it is definitely wise to send a more in dept packet. Just my 2 pennies but I hope it helps!
