Affordable mailing list companies ...suggestions? - Virtual Assistant Forums

Hello Fellow VA's,

I'm thinking about using mailing lists as a form of marketing. Most of the companies I came across so far are very expensive. Does anyone know of companies that are affordable?

Any advice or information is welcomed.

Get some quotes from your local printing companies/mailhouses. I frequently do mailings for my clients and we provide the mailhouse with our criteria and they provide the lists. They do all the zip code sorting, deduping, etc. I've even gone so far as to print with one company and mail at an entirely different one because the printer is fabulous, but not so great at mailing and the mailhouse is great with distribution, but not so great with the printing.

I've been looking into mailing lists also. Thanks for the advice, Jill, I'll also be looking into pros/cons of splitting printing/shipping locally.

Have you tried Melissadata.com? I worked with a sales company and they live by it!!!

P.S. Vistaprint now does mailing lists when you design postcards with them.

Are you looking at a huge mass mailing? You may laugh at this, but I have always created my own and grabbed addresses out of the good 'ole phone book or online yellow pages. This way, I knew I was targeting who I wanted to. Then again, I never have done a huge mailer. Mine have always been small ones.
