What services would you offer if you were in my shoes?
I would love to hear your opinion of my skill set vs. services to offer for my VA Service. I have experience in several different categories and I'm not sure if I should list all of these services? I feel confident and proficient in all the skills/software I listed below. I am in the beginning phase of creating my business and I'm not sure that I want to focus on a niche. I feel my personality lends itself to being flexible and I would like to work with different types of businesses offering well rounded services. I must say that of all the skills listed I LOVE the Graphic side of it most.

So here I am on paper...

Work Experience:
I have completed some college but no degree. I earned a Web/Graphic Certificate from a Tech Univ. I have worked 6 yrs as an Office Mgr for a Public Safety Labor Organization. I wore MANY hats assisting a five person Board of Directors. Anything from Medical Benefits Administration, Membership Coordinator, Bookkeeping, Web Design, Graphic Design, Event Planning, Purchasing, Merchandising and lots of clerical projects. The past 4 years I have been an Independent Contractor with the PSLO doing Admin, Web / Graphic Design work.

Software:
MS Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook
Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver
Quickbooks (light bookkeeping for multiple accounts)

Social Networking / Blog:
Facebook
Myspace
Blogspot

Ecommerce:
Etsy
Ebay
Yahoo! Stores

I think that's it at least for now

Thank you so much for your feedback!

What you offer is really up to you and if graphics is what you LOVE, then offer that. I think you'll find that most VAs (correct me if I'm wrong, people) tend to have one large thing that they are a "SME" (subject matter expert) at but provide the other, more basic, services as well to round themselves out.

So, maybe you could highlight your design experience but use your additional skills as additional services. Then, when your name gets out there as the "graphics SME", you could always drop the more mundane things and only offer graphic type services if you like.

I agree with Stephanie. One thing that I did which goes against the normal suggestions is offered a lot of services at first. I was (and am) good at everything I offered but I didn't know what I really wanted to do. Eventually I created a name for myself in one area and pursued that completely. In the beginning my problem was that I wanted to offer all those services. I knew it wasn't realistic to do all that but I didn't know what I didn't want to do. Now I focus on one area and market that solely.
