Question What Services Should a Client NOT Give to a VA?
Hello,

I am putting together a few how-to videos for a drip campaign. I want to ask and
respond to typical VA questions but wish to do so with a twist.

What services would you suggest that a client NOT ask a virtual assistant to do?

Thanks,
Janine

Hmm, Janine, that's a tough one, since we do it all.

I would imagine something personal would be the only exemption, sorry can't come up with anything at all!

Janine,
-Never ask a VA to do ANYTHING with your medical records

-Never ask a VA to write an apology note/send apology gift to your spouse/significant other for you

-Never ask a VA to lie for you

-Never ask a VA to download software/ebooks/courses illegally

-Never ask a VA to research a rash/bump/discoloration you just found on your body- Even WORSE, don't offer to send pictures of it to help with the research

Don't ask!

Not sure if I've helped but, figured I'd put those out there.

Great list, Christina!!

Thanks, JoCarole. You're right...there are limits to some personal things.

I'm going to add...

Don't ask a VA to copy email names off a web directory (well, at least this VA) because even though it is not against Spam Laws, I don't want to be a part of a massive spam plan.

On the general side, don't ask a VA to do the marketing that is vital to bringing in revenue to a business. Now I may get some flack for that but if a client is just starting out and the business is centered around "them"...their coaching program; their product, it is my opinion that the client needs to be the driving force in the business. The VA should be in more of a support role.

So that leads me to, Don't ask a VA to call a client's customers and say that they are the client themselves.

I have been asked to do both...but Christina, your rash investigation CRACKS me up!!

Janine

I love this twist and I love the ideas too.
How about:
Don't ask your VA to tell someone they're fired.
Don't ask your VA to call/contact someone to get information that someone wouldn't share with you otherwise (pricing, etc.)
Don't ask your VA to 're-write' someone else's blog posts and publish them as yours.

Do not ask your VA to perform tasks that require a license that she does not have....
