Exclamation What to offer
Ok I am new at this business and I am trying to figure out what exactly I should offer for my services. I have over five years of experience working on a computer. I am a very detail orientated person and I have a lot of knowledge of creative design. I also have a lot of knowledge when it comes to planning events such as a wedding. I don’t really know how I can break this down and come up with services to provide. I need help! ut:

Hi Sarahjane, Of all the things you know how to do right now, what do you love the most? What gets you excited when you wake up each day? I've been in business for many years and in my opinion passion for what you are doing is what separates those who make a go of their business and those that give it up. There will be many ups and downs and things that challenge you. Your commitment and love of your business is what will make the difference for you.

Hi Sarah,

First, congratulations on deciding to start your own VA business. The first thing you can do is write down ALL of the skills you are good at. Then, go through the same exact list and cross out the things you do not like doing (let's face it, there are some things we are good at, but we just do not like doing them.).

Once you have that list narrowed down, look it over again and see if there are any similarities between the skills that are left. Can they be combined to make one (or two) nice niche for yourself?

Also, you said you have extensive knowledge of event planning. Is your list of skills sought after by event planners (a possible target market perhaps?). Even if they are not currently, can you think of a way you can market them to event planners so they realize they do NEED these services from a VA like yourself?

Finally, create a second list. This list is of skills you don't have or aren't that good at, but you enjoy (or think you would enjoy). Keep this list and slowly start to learn one new skill at a time. My philosophy is that you should never stop learning.

I would love to know what you come up with! Good luck!

You've gotten some great ideas and advice here, I was basically going to say the same thing

Sit down with a pen and paper and brainstorm possible services you are skilled and experienced enough to offer virtually.
I'd also suggest thinking about what types of clients you'd like to work with (your target market[s]) - what kinds of services do they NEED?
You might also explore other VAs websites and other design professionals' websites for ideas of services you can offer - just be sure they're truly within your scope of experience.

Keep us posted on what you come up with!

Sounds like you have some great experience to build a business on. My advice would be to make sure that you feel totally comfortable with any service that you decide to provide to your clients. You need to enjoy what you do, and you will succeed.
