Smile what niche does this sound like?
Hi there,
I have always had a knack for promoting something I believe in, like a store with great customer service or a cool concert coming up....I just like connecting people to something that could benefit them. I've never done that for a living, but I have a feeling that I could enjoy it. I am trying to figure out how to make this a marketable skill but also believe I could use some training or guidance to make it work.

What really prompted me to write is that I saw that an author in my networking circle wants to find great ways to promote their book to the media. I wish I could help them get the word out but I want to learn how.

My question is, what niche does this sounds like? Social media? Marketing? Author assistant (I LOVE books). Would something like VA Classroom be able to help me?

I would appreciate any advice!

All the best,

Rachel

Rachel
I think it sounds like all of them, and I've been considering the same type of work.

I currently do book reviews and I've learned by chatting with some authors that some have a good handle on how to get the word out about their books while others don't seem to have a clue.

Helping them fulfill their dreams would help fulfill mine, so looking into learning what I can in e-marketing and social media marketing.

I love doing this as well. I have not found how to make that profitable of itself, I do find that when I help connect people to each other they are more likely to either use my services or recommend me to others.

If you find a way to make money on this - let me know!

I would suggest diving a bit deeper into the HOW you wish to promote an event or services and then make that the niche.

For example, if you want to promote books for authors decide on the services you will offer to make that happen.

Authors would be your target market so you would find the areas they will be located.

Offer to promote their books via social network marketing, article marketing, through book reviews, assisting them with writing their newsletters, offer to set up an autoresponder program so they can capture email addresses and so on. This would be the HOW.

All of this falls under the umbrella term 'marketing' but that can have more than one avenue. There is online marketing, print marketing, ad marketing, social network marketing and so on.

Hone in on the skills you have and then use those to promote authors' books and publications.

As for your question regarding VAClassroom, there have been numerous threads about this here on VAF. Craig Cannings has been a guest on the live chats. Here's that link.
