Default Software & Computer Tuition to Clients
I have a few clients who could really do with basic computer tuition and coaching on common MS Office tasks. Although they appreciate the help I give them over the telephone, I do not currently offer this service nor have I ever charged for the help I have given them so far, purely because I do not hold any official IT certification/qualifications. I have given this service some serious thought just recently and wondered if there was a way I could deliver such a service by telephone/web conference. The latter, however, might be a larger obstacle for those clients who really have no clue.

I wondered if there was anyone here who offers a similar service to their customers, or has any thoughts on this?

That is a really good point! I don't mind answering a few freebies but, more than 10 minutes of training needs to be charged service. I don't think you need to be certified to charge for basic office training. You're not training in programming or html or anything like that. It's just basic office skills of their own program. I would go for it. Maybe even give a discount if it makes you feel better.

I think you mean "tutoring," not tuition. For those that are more challenged you could maybe do some simple training videos for these clients and then tutor them with problem areas after they view the video? And charge for this as a service?

Just an idea off the top of my head, so not sure if it is helpful or not.

Here's a site that offers a fairly priced tutorial subscription. It's an annual subscription & you can watch as many of the vids as you want & as many times as you want for an entire year. There are a good number of MS Office vids. I've worked through two of the Excel vids & even though I know Excel pretty well, I learned a lot. BTW, the vids started with really basic stuff, so they won't be jumping into intermediate topics right away.

Here's the link for the MS Office 2007 offerings:

For $70 a year, I think it's a great offer.

I offer training via LogMeIn. LogMeIn is a free remote software program which allows me to login to my client's desktop. I usually train in 2 hour increments.

I do not hold certifications, but have corporate training experience. I love to empower my clients!!!

Hi everyone: I just wanted to say thank to Donna and Jules. As someone who did training and really enjoyed I was racking my brain on how to either make it a service or passive income.

Videos/LogMeIn are GREAT IDEAS.
