It depends on the interaction that your client wants. I spend probably 3 hours a week (about 15 minutes a day) updating a fan page, but if there are questions being asked that I need to respond to it might be more than that. But that is probably the high end. The fan page I administer is very active with a lot of inquisitive members.

Hi Carolina,

Depends on what they are looking for....do they want you to post regularly? reply to emails?

I spend about 30 mins to an hour a week posting, replying....and adding new businesses.

Hope this helps a bit!

Jenni

I charge monthly for Social Media Management. I monitor and update 3-4 times per day, 5 days per week.

How much time you spend managing a Facebook page can depend on a number of factors. I wouldn't quote it so much in terms of time but in terms of things that are quantifiable to the client (i.e. at least three posts per week, check the page once per day for posts/questions from fans, etc.)

How you much charge also depends. While we aren't allowed to post how much we charge, you can take into account how much of your time you estimate it would take to manage and monitor page in conjunction with your hourly rate for such services. Some VAs will quote this as a per month charge for a certain amount of management and others do it hourly.

I prefer hourly because with social media assistance, there really is no one size fits all approach. Unless you are working with just a specific market who have similar service need, then the needs for different clients are going to be different and they may then call upon you to do other things outside the scope of what you originally quoted.

I also provide a time estimate on how long it will take to do things outside of management such as setting up the page and/or creating graphic or installing and setting up applications.

There's really quite a bit that needs to be taken into account for management of a Facebook page for it to be beneficial to the client. A big part of it is creating community and engagement. I would say though, that 3 hours per week is probably at the high end for a very active community and 15-30 minutes per week would be at the low end.

I would also recommend including in your quote how much time or what ideas you have for helping the client promote the page to build the fan base.

Good luck!

I do about 1-2 hours per week for a client with a fairly busy page. I think Kimberly hit on some great points. The only other factor I would point out would be the actions of the friends/fans of the page--some weeks there will be more activity than others. I like charging by the hour because there are so many factors that fluctuate.

Stacy, Jenni, Shellye, Kimberly, Amy.

Thank you so much for your great answers. Theyīve been of great help. I will take into account each one of them. On the other hand, I didnīt know we werenīt allowed to answer questions in terms of how much we quote for services. Sorry!.
I will have to re-consider my quotation then, and just give it a go...I think that the best way of getting the feel of it is when you get started with it. I just donīt want to charge too much nor too low..

Thanks!

@Carolina, I think I overlooked that fact as well because I posted what I quote for services but received a note saying my post would be edited. I guess we can discuss rates off the board, just not on it. No biggie! Just trying to help!!

P.S. You can also do a google search for Social Media Manager to find out an average quote for services.

It really depends, like many of you said. I am currently working for a Marketing & Communication agency in Lisbon where I work as social media manager. As off now, I am currently managing the facebook pages of 3 different clients ( big ones, with busy pages) and we charge a monthly fee...we also charge a start-up fee to put the page together, with a personalized landing page and etc... I must say that it takes me far more to manage the page than most of you have quoted... I update the Facebook fan page of each client two times a day, than I reply to the fans questions, promote contests, develop surveys, sweepstakes, etc etc and it takes me, at least, one hour per day per each client to research and post the content and reply to everyone but again this depends a lot on the nature of the page but never less than one hour per day to update the page twice per day and maintain a good feedback level with all fans. Hope this helps, I would talk about our rates but it seems we are not allowed?

Cheers
