Default Online Presence Management - social media
Has anyone started to use this niche regularly? I attended a webinar about this new and important niche and I would like to offer it as a service (I do some with another company I work for part time). I was wondering how to charge for something like this...regular hourly rate or a monthly/weekly charge? Any thoughts?

Though not my niche, it's becoming something I do more and more for my clients. I charge my regular hourly rate. Most of my clients are on retainer; so they pay the discounted rate.

Hi there, also not my 'niche' but something I do for a few clients on a regular basis. I also charge hourly although I know some VAs charge per-Tweet or per blog post...

There are more and more VAs specializing in this now - I think especially because there are new training programs sprouting up to help service the interest in social media among virtual assistants.

I cannot say it is a Niche...yet (hmmm....thinking...thinking ) , but I am working on this for a couple of clients for the VA I am partnered with.

Right now, we are doing it as a pilot service so we have not hammered out the fee either. I would love to see some feedback on that as well.

This is my niche and I charge a flat rate for profile setup and a monthly rate for postings or hourly rate for projects. Most of my clients didn't follow my offers exactly so they all have personalized pricing.

I jumped right on Craig Canning's VAclassroom course in social media marketing when he offered it recently, and am now offering services as a 'specialist.' As a writer, it seemed the most direct way I can serve small businesses, helping them present well online.
Actually, it seems to me that in another 5-8 years everyone will be so well-versed in navigating social networks online that they won't need guidance; but there will always be a need for those who can sub-in for the business at social sites, do the writing and distributing and tracking, etc.
In a way, it's almost a basic skill that any VA might be likely to offer, like desktop publishing or database management.

I recently attended a social media for business course and found it very interesting - there are so many opportunities out there with the different social media platforms available. Even with a pretty good knowledge of this area, there are always new applications available and I imagine many businesses woudl not have the time to keep up with them all - a perfect opportunity for a VA to step in :-)

I know this is kind of a dead topic but I wanted to jump in here because I am basing my VA business niche on social media marketing/online reputation management to start my business, and then plan to extend out in other areas later.

Most of my social media marketing/networking has been from my own personal and business use, but I want to formalize myself so I found the VAclassroom course for social media marketing and plan on taking advantage of it, for sure - but does anyone know of any other social media courses or certs that are out there? It seems like it's a huge goldrush right now but not much "courseware".

Mari Smith offers a training, but it's on the expensive side and she only takes so many people at a time. Stick with VA Classroom and follow social media people on twitter. Social Media changes daily.

I haven't read it yet but a few weeks ago I picked up a copy of the "Social Media Bible" book thinking it might be useful in my business. I hadn't really thought of social media as a niche but now...
I have talked to a couple of business owners (friends of mine) who have not done much with social media but wanted more info. So how would one go about offering the service? I know the importance of using social media in business but I have no idea what I would do for a client. What would the service be? I would love to be a part of VAclassroom but can't afford to right now.
