Thanks for the info - was wondering myself if it was worth adding to my list of services.

Thanks for the info...I am a notary public and plan on offering it to established clients only. In Georgia I believe I can only charge like $2 for the service. I will look into the travel part and see if I can charge more.

You just answered my question. I knew there were specific state rates you could charge for being a notary, but was wondering if you could have the separate service for mobile fees. Don't see where it would hurt to offer it though.

Thanks,

I am thinking about beginning to market my mobile notary service to title companies. Do you have any marketing ideas that would be helpful. Thanks

I have been thinking of adding notary services to my packages. However, I'm not quite sure where I should be going to get started...research what steps I need to take. Do any of you have any thoughts that could point me in the right direction?

Is anyone here a Certified Notary Signing Agent? I noticed that many of you do loan closings, but, at least from what I can tell, you have to be a certified signing agent to do so? Is that true or am I able to do loan closing just by being a notary public?

I'm considering taking this Signing Agent training course with the National Notary Association and was wondering if anyone else had done it.

Hi Paulette! If you live in New York State you do not need to be a signing agent for mortgages and loans. I'm not sure if NYC is different, but I don't think so. Here is the link to the NYS Department of Licensing - http://www.dos.state.ny.us/licensing/notary/notary.html.

I hope this helps answer your question!

Do you think the training course would be beneficial though? I've never notarized any closing papers so I have no idea if there are additional steps that I need to take, mostly to protect myself from any liability.

I do think it would be beneficial if you have never done the work before. I would also look for a local class before taking the online class. It seems a little expensive to me. I took a basic Notary class through Knowledge Network in Albany and it was only about $75. I just looked on their website and the Signing Agent class is only $45.

Good luck!

That is a service I considered offering, but I am still undecided.
