Default Does anyone offer HR?
Hello,
I am wondering if anyone offers Human Resources services as part of their Virtual Assistant business? I am getting my degree in this field (will be done with my BA May, 2010 and then moving on to my Doctorate) and would love to work it into my VA business. I would like to know how well that has worked for those who offer it?

Thank You!

I'd be interested in hearing about this too! I have HR/Payroll experience in my background. I'm a newbie VA and just starting out my business. Anyone have any input?

I am actually offering that as part of my services. Although I can't do it all from home without being on site, I do offer a big portion of it.
I think it actually takes a lot off of the smaller companies that try to do it themselves and it becomes to much and they loose focus on other things.
I tended to stay on the paperwork side of it. Process the applications, initial interviews, sending all new hire packets, etc.

I offer HR but am not formally trained in it. I do training analysis and formalise the HR structure for clients. So many places have loose agreements on vacation etc (i'm talking about legal practices where there is no training and development of support staff. But this is a small part of my overall business.

For those of you who have formal training:
Do you think there is a need for training to offer HR services?

I have HR experience and offer the following services. Process applications and review resumes for meeting criteria, rejection and acceptance letters, new employee packets including company manual. Mostly the paperwork and organization end of the process. Since I did hiring/firing in a previous position as well as training coordination I feel comfortable offering these services without a formal degree.

I'm a little late seeing this thread, but want to jump in. Unfortunately I'm a newbie to the business & haven't signed a client yet, so I just have my gut on this.

I'm an HR professional from the corporate world moving my expertise into my VA business offering HR, training & administrative services. There is actually a large number of HR consultants to compete with, but my target market is the small business owner who needs either or both admin & HR help. From what I've seen from my local competitors, this market is ripe for the pick-ens. I will balance virtual & on-site services depending on the request. I think this is the next great niche, so go for it.

I do think that HR education & experience is necessary for most of the work. It will also make a huge difference in client confidence when you are selling yourself.

I'd love to keep track of all the HR VA's. Can I link up with you all?

Best,
Teri

My Masters is in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. It is more of the training side of HR. I have not really found the need virtually to do this but I did get a tip that I could have been marketing wrong to T/D organizations. I am going to revamp my stuff for them and try again!

I offer HR assistance ... like others on here, mainly the paperwork side of things, placing ads, sending out application packs, collating replies, sending out interview appointments, chasing references etc ... but haven't had anyone request the service as yet. I'm going to include this in my marketing plan as one of the services to push.

This sounds interesting and did not occur to me. I work for a staffing company and used to do the filing, reference checking, candidate research, (sort of like recruiting)sending out applications and so forth, no I'm payroll supervisor and stopped doing all the recruting stuff. This is a good posting would like to know more.
